The Fix: Ethereum-native Infrastructure • Based Rollups: Use Ethereum L1 validators as the sequencer. Removes centralization risk, restores censorship resistance. • Native Rollups: No more reimplementing the EVM. No more Security Council multisigs. They inherit Ethereum’s execution layer by design. •Preconfirmations: Users get fast UX (e.g., instant trading feedback) via ETH-backed inclusion guarantees from L1 validators, with slashing if they lie. • Real-Time ZK Proofs: Slot-by-slot proving is here. ZK-enabled rollups with instant finality are becoming possible. To get there, Ethereum is moving toward real-time, slot-by-slot proving using ZK SNARKs. This enables constant-time verification and removes the need for validators to re-execute blocks. Native rollups use a new EXECUTE precompile to introspect and reuse Ethereum’s state transition function. There is no EVM emulation, no governance lag, and no reliance on Security Councils. Preconfirmations offer ETH-backed execution guarantees per slot, priced to offset MEV opportunity loss, while based rollups decentralize sequencing by aligning with Ethereum’s validator set. Beamchain pushes this vision further: a clean-slate Ethereum L1 design that is post-quantum secure, radically simplified (validators could run on a Raspberry Pi), and ossified through optimality. It proposes gigagas/s throughput via ZK proofs, validator statelessness, and Attester-Proposer-Separation (APS) to maximize decentralization and censorship resistance, allowing Ethereum L1 to scale as a high-performance rollup itself. EthLabs Co-founder Ansgar Dietrichs on why Ethereum must be the central node of the on-chain global economy “When we say the global economy is coming on-chain, I believe there are two very different ways that can play out. What I see as the default is you have this world of all these different, independent chains [with different use cases] and then you tie them all together with brittle links. Over time you try to derisk these links, but we’ve seen this multiple times in the past — bridges keep failing. Bridges between independent chains can only ever be so secure/robust because ultimately these chains don’t have a shared state.” Ansgar continues: “The alternative outcome is one where the global economy has one central node — that doesn’t mean that all the activity is on that node or Ethereum L1, but it means that there’s one central node that everything links back into. We are in a fundamentally better state for the world, when all these different parts of the economy can talk to each other trustlessly and without friction. And we really believe that it’s only Ethereum that can play that role. There is no second-best, neutral chain that actually has a shot at this. But that doesn’t mean it’s inevitable. We could just end up in the worse world.” This is why EthLabs is focused on, as Ansgar puts it, “talking to the builders in Ethereum, figuring out what are the friction points — especially as we build toward bringing finance and these economic flows on-chain — and iteratively removing them and strengthening Ethereum.”

Etherealize CEO Vivek Raman: “L2s are the best business model in blockchain” Raoul Pal explains his view of Layer 2s on Ethereum: “We just created excess capacity versus current usage, and it will accrue to the base chain over time.” Etherealize co-founder Danny Ryan adds to this: “I think it’s Ethereum’s favor to have massive optionality in this layer that inherits the security of Ethereum and enhances the network effects of Ethereum. We’re going to continue to work on how these things communicate, how they resolve state differences, and all sorts of stuff like that… But one of the reasons many years ago that Ethereum went all in on that was it was the only way to scale Ethereum without sacrificing the decentralization of the L1.” Raoul emphasizes the importance of this point: “People underestimate scalability because they have no understanding of the scale of the financial system. They have no understanding of the sheer amount of transactions that happen, the speed that it happens, and the value that transacts. People just think, ‘Oh tokenized equities.’ They have no idea of what is required… you have the DTCC, then you have Euroclear — there’s endless numbers of them. People don’t even talk about the derivatives markets. The OTC derivatives markets are another couple of quadrillion dollars. Then you have the FX markets. The FX markets themselves do another $5 trillion a day. These numbers are stupid.” Etherealize CEO Vivek Raman comments: “It’s just naive for people to think that all of global finance can live in one layer. But it can live in one multi-layer ecosystem that has interoperability, ZK, and is future proof, and that’s what Ethereum is. Zooming out, we’re at such an early stage of the adoption curve — the people who say ETH won’t accrue value aren’t seeing how big the market can get. The other thing too that got me to become a bit of a Layer 2 maximalist is that from the bank or asset manager perspective, people want to own their own businesses and maximize profits. My take is that L2s are the best business model in blockchain, and it’s not just me saying that. Robinhood said, ‘We can get the security of Ethereum for virtually nothing, keep all of our operating margins to ourselves, and we’re attached to the liquidity of the largest ecosystem out there with the most stablecoins and tokenized assets.
