Opus 4.5 (new model from Anthropic) can do something no model could do until now: It can close the design loop. This is (in my testing) the first model that can reliably do the visual loop of Generate Code ⇛ Render ⇛ Look at it ⇛ Improve. Step 3 (Visual critique) has been a real problem for so long. Models will be myopic or defensive when reviewing designs - it's been hard to tell if this has been a training or a vision problem. Opus 4.5 seems to have fixed it - it's not amazing, but it finally *can* do it. Claude models have historically (once again, in my testing) lagged behind in terms of visual understanding. Gemini for the last year has been the best - but there might be a new leader.

Resetting regulated rent is the only way systems like rent stabilization can work. It’s why every other city in America with rent control allows for it. Otherwise buildings go bankrupt and apartments stay off the market like the 50,000 empty ones here in New York. New York has a housing shortage, but building new housing will be negated if we don’t bring these empty apartments back to New Yorkers who desperately need housing.

Hia New is already handsome, cool and has a cool voice, but this was even more than Hia New. Like a “badder” version of Hia New. And to get that voice, it wasn’t easy at all. I had to search for it for quite a while. I thought it was already “bad” enough, but he kept saying “No, not enough, it has to be badder, even badder" and that’s how the voice came out. A voice I had never done or sung with before. Everyone has probably never heard me sing like that either. It was really a surprise

In fact, it will be helpful to telcos because Starlink will serve the hardest to serve customers that telcos otherwise have trouble doing with landlines or even with cell radio stations with cell towers. 5G is great for high-density situations like being here in D.C. or New York, San Francisco. 5G is great for high-density situations, but it's actually not great for the countryside. I have a hard time believing that Mamdani has magically figured out how to sell groceries 30% cheaper than every other market in America. The average grocery store only makes about 2 cents of profit on the dollar. Even if they make NO profit, Mamdani's stores still need to cut 28% more off the cost. Sure, they won't have to pay rent or taxes, but they also can't buy in bulk (there's only 5 of them), won't sell high-margin products like hot food or beer, and will probably pay their workers well above the market rate. You can't cut 30% off the price of groceries with that strategy and expect to be profitable. That's just simple math. New Yorkers won't be getting cheaper food. They will just be buying groceries with your tax dollars and calling it a store.

A little bit more on my Novel editor. One of the things I loath about word processors is that they are so unaware of how prose is structured. They treat the line as the most atomic unit of text. But writers think in words, sentences, and paragraphs. Never lines. The editor I am working on has navigation tools for word, sentence, paragraph, and scene. You can navigate and move content at each level. All from the keyboard with some intuitive hotkeys. A pointing device like trackpad or mouse engages the part of your brain that processes spatial input. That's not where you want to be when writing. It can take you out of your flow state. And it is physically quite slow because your hands must move away from the keyboard. So I'm rethinking editing with the keyboard. It's not hard to learn, and it makes editing faster. I haven't been using it long and already I'm barely reaching for the trackpad. Follow me to be the first to try this out. #WritingCommunity

New said that the company discussed the problems with the Replay Series and decided to terminate production to avoid any future issues. 🐻‍❄️ When the cancellation was announced, I could see everyone felt relieved. It’s better like that. Sometimes, it’s not necessary to walk through fire and thorns 🐻‍❄️ I was shocked too, because I already liked it and really wanted to act in this series. When it got cancelled, I was like, “Again! Only happen to me" 🐻‍❄️ We actors didn’t go deep into what problems there may have been before this. We just felt the script was interesting and the director team was great. We didn’t know the details. Such a shame 🐻‍❄️ I hope it will still be the same set of six actors, because we want to work together. We’re waiting to see whether it will be the same set or if we’ll be split up. We just have to stay tuned. There’s no further update for now. 🐻‍❄️ They did say there will be a new series for us, so I was like "Such a relief"

A local utility company in Illinois has plans to help lower residents electrical bills They will be requiring new data centers and planned data centers to sign 10 year contracts saying they will be responsible for paying for upgrade costs and electricity usage costs “That means any new data centers would be on the hook for power upgrades and any energy they plan to use, even if the data center ends up not getting built or if they don't use as much power as planned or if they close. So if they use the power that they're applying for, then they'll pay their fair share of the cost of maintaining and building our grid through their rates”

NO BUT HIS IDEA SO BRILLIANT? 👑: i already talked about it and gave hints to yeodoongies, right? so, it was almost at the final completion stage, but then the price came out. and it ended up being a bit higher than i expected. since i really wanted this item to be practical and actually useful for yeodoongies, i designed it with that in mind—and because of those extra details, the unit cost ended up a bit higher than i first thought 👑: so i thought, “wouldn’t this be a bit too much of a burden for yeodoongies?” that’s why i just decided to scrap it and changed to something else instead 💬: then just give me the one you scrapped 👑: ㅎㅎㅎ ah, that one was actually—well, i guess i can just say it now anyway. actually, i was thinking of a keyboard. the idea for that keyboard was something like i wanted to put hehetmon face on the keyboard—what should i call it? on the keycaps, like emojis. and then, you know those keyboards that don't make that loud clicking sound? not like mechanical keyboards, but ones that sound like asmr... ah, silent! but even though it's silent, it has that, you know—that “sagak-sagak” sound when you press the keys. yeah, you’re right! like “tuduk-tuduk” sound! i had that kind of keyboard in mind and tried to make it happen. but the unit cost ended up being higher than i expected. and i thought, this is a bit too much— i know our yeodoongies would want to have it no matter what, but if the price is this high, it’ll be such a burden on yeodoongies. so, i just made the call to scrap it and switched to something else
