An emotional day for The Sameer Project team when we opened the desalination plant on September 10th! Support our work: After long hours of tears and sweat, we managed to open a desalination plant that provides a new source of clean water in Gaza. With God’s grace and your material support, we were able to do it. This desalination plant will help us save costs on providing water and we will also provide our partner organizations with free water to distribute. Working in community is a key pillar of The Sameer Project. So this is not our success, this is the success of mutual aid groups in Gaza. To operate the plant, we will need around $1,500 per day and we will be able to produce at least 150,000 liters of fresh water with that. The Sameer Project still needs your support to operate the desalination plant so please commit to a small amount monthly to sustain this important work. For our team, that means worrying about how to pay for the next water distribution. For the families waiting, it means something far more painful: not knowing whether clean water will arrive. No child should have to learn how to endure thirst. No mother should have to look at the water left in a container and wonder which of her children will ask to drink next. In Gaza’s displacement camps, families who have already lost their homes must struggle for something they cannot live without. Children spend their time waiting and carrying heavy containers when they should be playing, learning, and coming home to a drink of water. Water to drink. Water to prepare food. Water to wash a child’s face. The simplest needs become exhausting worries when there is never enough. ❤️ Because of your support, we have been able to bring clean water to displaced families, delivering your kindness with our own hands. Behind every container filled is a family with water to take back to their tent—a parent who can finally answer their thirsty child with something more than “wait.” You helped make that relief possible.
