Id say COD is the underdog nowadays. This game was actually fun and i didnt need a full weekend of MW4 like i need it for Wardogs when they shut it down early. Cant wait for Thursday

For those wondering Kingdom Hearts Coded runs at 15fps by default. Increasing beyond will just break the game due to everything being tied to the FPS. In which case my hardware renderer took it from maybe 4-5 fps to a 15 fps cap. This is pretty normal for mobile games in 2008.

Did FPS games peak in the 90s? I guess the newer ones have better graphics, but do they really "feel" better in terms of gameplay and fun? Unreal Tournament (Epic Games, 1999) was one of the best of its kind. A favorite for our LAN sessions back in the day. Carrying a 21" mintor over to your friend's house felt a little less heavy when you knew you'd be playing Unreal later that day... Exellent and colorful graphics (even on PCs that weren't high end, like those you needed for Quake III Arena for example), great sound, and your typical capture the flag or deathmatches - I mean, what more did you need? Plenty of "Game of the Year" nominations (with some wins), the highest critcal acclaim, and massive sales numbers. I think we can all agree that Unreal Tournament belongs in the Hall of Fame of FPS games. Or maybe I am just getting old and gloryfing things from the past too much.

And to then go full circle and end it with yet another iconic hit. id Software brought us Wolfenstein 3D (1992), the grandfather of FPS games. Then followed it up only a year later in 1993 with Doom, widely considered the father of all modern FPS games, due to its massive popularity, multiplayer deathmatch, and modding community - and defining the genre's mainstream popularity to this day. And if that wasn't enough, they gave us Quake in 1996. If there was ever a studio to not just create a genre but then to also dominate it for years and years, the vote would have to go to id Software, no? Sierra for adventures. Crazy how Action Quake 2 and The Specialists still inspire a lot of FPS games. I grew up with those. I still don't know what the subgenre is called, there's so little FPS games in that category, I doubt there is even a name for them I need to make a list

I can push back on the idea that there are no Democrats in rural America, but really what I'm pushing back on is being taken for granted — once Republicans think they've got your vote locked in, they stop showing up for you. We don't live in rural America because we're looking for handouts. As I told Skamania Democrats recently, we live here because we believe in self-sufficiency, and we're proud of what that sacrifice takes.

Devs don't mind skipping on the Switch 2 or Xbox but they know their games have to comeout on Playstation in the console space no matter what. #Playstation 👑

The early days of FPS games were pure, wonderful mayhem. Heretic is a brilliant Doom clone, developed by Raven Software and published by id Software in 1994. And while it was a very obvious clone and jumping on the bandwagon of FPS frenzy during that era, it took the fast-paced corridor-shooting formula of Doom and also added some technical and gameplay innovations: 1) While Most FPS games had either a sci/fi or military setting, Heretic was set in a gothic medieval world. 2) It allowed you to look up and down, which was a major technical step forward. Doom locked your view horizontally, while Heretic added vertical aiming. 3) Inventory system: One of the first FPS games to let you pick up items and store them for later use (instead of activating them immediately). Standard in today's games, pretty innovative back in 1994. So yes, it was a clone, but also much more than just that.
