I ran a poll this week which showed that 77% of clinicians screen for Cauda Equina every new back pain consultation. That’s nearly a quarter who DONT… I refer patients to the ED for CES multiple times a year. The ones that nearly got missed didn't present with obvious red flags. They said their legs felt "a bit heavy." 🦵 Their saddle area felt "different." One said nothing — until I asked directly. CES symptoms can be subtle. Patients often don’t articulate them without prompting. We need to ask. Every time. Regardless of how they present. It takes less than 2 minutes. ⏱️ Ask it. ‘All the Covid strains ,the Flu, RSV, Marburg, Ebola and 99% of the viruses we hear about in the news are ssRNA viruses. These viruses use a common reproductive pathway called RNA dependent RNA polymerase to make copies of their genetic material in our cells. Intracelular zinc interferes with the RDRP pathway and halts the virus from spreading in the body. I’ve spoken about the use of Zinc and Zinc Ionophores in the context of treating covid, but it’s time to think more broadly. Zinc and zinc ionophores could inhibit all ssRNA viruses. There’s tremendous national security implications to this and I don’t think anyone realizes it.’
