Were you part of the GATE program as a kid?

I remember being put in this, the liminal spaces and backrooms comment got my attention initially because I really enjoy them would like to know more about how/why this is related to the program. I also had an NDE drowning as a little kid, no broken bones either, however my eyes are blue. I do remember the old headphones and the weird sound tests, there was a paper but I don't remember what I was writing and some shapes on cards too but not much else I can recall. Some kids in school started to tease that gifted was code mentally slow kids, so they started mocking those of us in it, calling me the "red r-word", I was so hurt, cried and asked my mom if something was wrong with me, begged her to pull me out of it because I was getting bullied for being put in it. I was in elementary school at the time. Was not a good experience for me.

I was in it, I’ve also never broken a bone and had two occasions where I almost drown. One thing I do remember from the gate program is they did some IQ test on me. They’d do a pattern recognition thing.

Yes, they just didn’t call it that. If you tested high enough, they took you to Stanford for more testing, and then you were put on stimulants for ADHD which creates your future addiction so you’re no longer a liability.

I remember being tested when I was quite young, 8 or so...I remember going to a trailer with a long table and there was a woman there waiting for me, it was just the 2 of us in there. I remember hearing tests with those big headphones and I ALMOST remember the sounds. I got a terrible feeling about all it and deliberately did poorly on a math test so I didn't have to go back. It worked.

Idk but school tested us with the headphones and wanted us to raise our hands if we heard anything. I thought it was a hearing test but after they moved us into a gifted class I had to keep taking every year in elementary. I didn't learn shit in that class
