Instead, £200k is being spent on political assistants and DOLGE, a department the administration itself admits “hasn’t cut waste”. At the same time, £50k of crisis grants for struggling families were cut to “save money”. I seconded an amendment to scrap these political roles and redirect the funding back to residents who actually need it. It was voted down. Reform UK in Kent has forgotten who sent them there. Local government is not a vehicle for headlines and soundbites. It is there to serve the people of Kent, not act as a rehearsal for Westminster.

Reform UK has been reported to the police over allegations it breached political donation rules, after senior members were filmed in an undercover report. Channel 4 claimed in the report that Reform took funding from a US firm for three polls it commissioned earlier this year costing £32,500. UK electoral law says foreign companies can not provide donations to political parties. The Liberal Democrats have written to the Metropolitan Police and Electoral Commission. Reform UK denies any wrongdoing and claims to have "been the target of a hoax perpetuated by foreign funded climate change activists". #politics #reform #reformuk #donations
