What a shitshow with all these 5-second penalties for speeding! It seems the reason is that drivers are cutting the pit lane entry and exit, which shortens the measured distance compared to the time it takes to cover it. But Gasly and the others are surely well under 60... show more

As it turns out, sometimes you CAN do that (kind of). After getting spun out entering pit road, Sterling Marlin was called for speeding on entry by NASCAR officials in the 2002 Las Vegas race. However, the official responsible for Marlin's pit did not hear the call in time to enforce the penalty, preventing Marlin from being held for 15 seconds. As the penalty for speeding on entry (15 seconds added to the end of the stop) was different than speeding on exit (return to pit road for a stop-and-go), NASCAR elected not to enforce their penalty against Marlin, allowing him to continue racing Tony Stewart for the lead - much to the chagrin of Stewart's car owner Joe Gibbs. Marlin would go on to earn his first win of the season, two weeks after getting out of his car under red cost him the Daytona 500. NASCAR then changed the rules the next week to make speeding either entering or exiting the pits a drive-through penalty.

In the context of the game; if both of these tackles are fouls and a ball headed on to an arm is a penalty, how is this challenge on Raskin not a penalty? I think we know the answer. But the club just goes along with it.

Was this instruction coming from Mercedes? 🚨 After Leclerc hit the wall, a red flag wasn't immediately shown. Under yellow flags, drivers still had to pit and navigate around the final corner as before. Russell voluntarily offered to serve a stop-and-go penalty in the pits to clear his time. He was 12 seconds ahead of Gasly when he pitted, so even after serving it, he wouldn't lose position. Marcus told him the penalty had been cleared and to wait for Race Control to update.

Lewis Hamilton was asked about his penalties in the last 3 races 😔 We don't usually see you having these 5-second penalties, and now already third one. Is there a reason for it? Don't you get enough information or is it like just go incidents that you now have been getting them? Lewis Hamilton: I don't think it's a coincidence. I've just... Mistakes, silverstone was a mistake, got a penalty for that. There was a mistake in spa well actually it wasn't really a mistake in the last race, and I got a penalty for something that was really a racing incident, even the driver that was with it, uh, said it was.
