my favorite detail is Peggy also going to dive on the grenade

I love it because it simultaneously shows Steve isn't just all talk, and shows why he and Peggy were so compatible. I am shocked how many people never notice/care that she's also running to dive on the grenade.

I think the part about this that people miss is that while this can be seen as heroic it also suggests that Steve Rogers considers himself dispensable -- but his perceived selflessness gets invested in so hard that he becomes truly indispensable

Crazy how no one talks about how much weight Chris Evans had to lose for the early part of this film.

I think it’s a bit corny. But it’s a good scene which showcases why Steve gets to become Captain America. He’s already the right guy to handle that responsibility.

Underdog: sacrificial & brave.

Absolutely brilliant. Steve isn’t a hero by forced platitudes, he’s a hero by his actions. This movie gives us several examples of peak character storytelling. You root for Steve because he’s the likable underdog that nobody believes in, until he proves to them why they should.

10/10 scene. It perfectly encapsulates why Steve is the best candidate for the super soldier program, despite all of his weaknesses. It shows us his willingness to defend others, even at the cost of his own life. Now I gotta go rewatch the movie.

Shows he was worthy of lifting the hammer already

I think it's really stupid to jump on a live grenade when everyone else has dived for cover but I suppose in the heat of the moment it shows the kind of person you are but still you're gonna get yourself killed when it's not nessasary.
