We are developing a new design paradigm that enables seamless integration of 2D and 3D on the same canvas in real time. No need for plugins or cumbersome workflows. It's all connected in a single place. All systems (frames, layouts, booleans, vectors, effects, etc.) work in sync across 2D and 3D, non-destructively. This is the starting point of a fully multi-dimensional design process. At some point in the near future, people won't need to refer to '3d design' as a separate part of the process, because it will be all part of the same system. AI instead of UI The last few years radically changed how we think about digital products & product design process in general. What we are witnessing right now is a transition where AI is no longer just a feature; it is becoming the infrastructure of interaction. For decades, UI design was rooted in the concept of “Happy Path,” a series of static, linear screens (routes from A to B) designed to funnel users toward a goal. This “one-size-fits-all” approach assumes that all users have the same mental model, which is far from the truth. The rise of AI tools like ChatGPT and Gemini is showing that we are moving into an era of Generative Interfaces. Instead of a designer pre-determining every button and menu, the interface is synthesized in real-time based on user actions. Back in 2019, Gleb Kuznetsov and I were working on the concept of morphing Interface, the idea of a UI that adapts its structure based on user intent. The great thing about this UI is that it was highly dynamic: different users saw different content/contextual actions based on their behavior. This concept was crazy in 2019, but it is highly relevant to the modern state of the product design process. And I strongly believe that it represents the future of UI design. We will move beyond the “AI chatbox" crutch Yes, many products today treat AI as a sidecar (think of Copilots or chatbots pinned to the side of a traditional dashboard), but this is a transitional phase. Why? Because adding a chat window to a 20-year-old software layout is like putting a jet engine on a horse-drawn carriage. That's why the future isn't "AI as an add-on"; it is AI as the Operating System. AI will power generative interfaces that are rooted in anticipatory design: UI won’t wait for a command; it will surface tools based on the user's current environmental context and historical behavior. This evolution changes the very nature of product design, and we will move away from designing pages/screens and toward designing systems of logic.

I had one idea for an app… and instead of opening 5 different tools, I just talked it out with my Pika Agent📱 I asked it to design the core concept, think through the user flow, sketch out the interface screens, and define the key features — and it turned that into a complete creation that’s actually ready to prototype. No overthinking prompts. No back-and-forth between tools. Just a normal conversation that turned into something real. The future of design is… engineering. All designers at Vercel now also build, thanks to tools like v0, Claude Code, and Cursor. They've been contributing to our frontends and apps for a while now. But over the past few months, the leap they've made is engineering the design process itself by building agents. A big part of shipping is getting the word out in a compelling way, especially on the X platform, the everything app. In the past, we used to spend a bunch of time hand-crafting images and illustrations for social cards. Our design team built an internal agent and web ui using v0 and Claude Code that makes this process fully self-serve. It even includes a previewer of what the final artifact will look like on X. It's called Leap. It's probably saved us hundreds of hours of work but also massively raised our quality bar. The artifacts it produces are beautiful. If you had asked me even 12 months ago whether our design team would be building their own design tools, let alone be this good, I would call bs. There was no master plan, or God forbid, a "sprint" to make this happen. It just took a handful of prompts to build and it propagated on Slack. Leap is now one of the many agents that helps us run our company more smoothly, built and securely deployed on Vercel for our internal use.

At least 30 stretches of pavement across Reading will be upgraded using an innovative new process this year. This method of treating footpaths which uses a bitumen sealing process is quicker, cheaper and more environmentally friendly than traditional methods of resurfacing but effective at maintaining the pavement at a high standard for longer. The work can be carried out by the Council’s own Highways team, reducing time and costs, which means more pavements can be improved.
