Playing professional chess is not the usual path to becoming Governor – but it taught me many life lessons including learning from your losses, how to take calculated risks, and the importance of always having a plan. Thank you to the Washington Chess Federation and the Eastside Oly Chessclub for hosting me at the inaugural Governor’s Cup Chess Tournament. It was great to meet the next generation of Washington chess players and I hope this tradition continues for years to come.
