fleet awareness. the Tesla in front told your car to join it, and agreed it would set a pick or accelerate if necessary

Now that’s teamwork!

There needs to be some common sense built into FSD. The maneuver was unneeded when all FSD needed to do was stay straight in the lane that it was already in. If there was bumper to bumper traffic ahead, you woulda been screwed getting back over.

Edge Case7 months ago

That’s really one of the more head scratching things about FSD right now. This common sense seems so trivial

I’d feel way more comfortable with these passes if I could be confident in navigation

Edge Case's profile picture

Very true. I was fully expecting to just keep going straight haha

Mad Max does this. Doesn't even allow one car to go ahead!!

I guess Standard is the new Mad Max. 🤠

There’s always a slow down on this junction with moderate traffic

Edge Case's profile picture

So infuriating that FSD is making me pay attention haha

Oh I know haha. The things I’ve seen here... Almost got sideswiped here one time lol.

Hate this! That 10 freeway merge from 710 usually has a lot of traffic backed up n tesla just loves to try and cut people like that!

Yeah that’s a bad spot

If you wanna see some crazy moves try using Mad Max in traffic. They should rename it asshole mode.

Impatient A-hole. I mean, seriously, is FSD trained on the worst drivers out there?

Joe Maj's profile picture

Perfection. All seeing and updates 30 times a second. No human can match this perception plus speed of thought.

We should critique the driving style of FSD. These are cases when I "disengage" because they will have to aggressively move back over. I wonder how many people just let it play out vs taking over.

Obviously trained in LA traffic 😜

Kawaii Sampler's profile picture

Human driving. It got around slower cars. Also why disengage? Seemed to be doing just fine.

That it scoots over one lane to its left just before the exit, so it can catch the left exit lane of the two available at the exit?

Edge Case's profile picture
Edge Case7 months ago

That’s a mouthful

AJ's profile picture
AJ7 months ago

I have to deal with this everyday on this one exit and it always drives me nuts so I had to really explain and let it out lol

I call it passing slower traffic

Every single day. It’s a little annoyance but if that’s all we got left we’re doing pretty good.

AMPed UP's profile picture

I already noted this to FSD team. It more congested but moving and more risky and missed my exit Many scenarios like that happens to me in Toronto . FSD needs to understand when to go to chill mode from mad max . And vice versa. But we have idiots calling for caps lower and upper. Nothing should be programmed . Deep learning and intelligence. Knowing the surroundings and make best judgement. @pduan @aelluswamy

Edge Case's profile picture
Edge Case7 months ago

True it needs to be intelligent to navigate any scenario on its own. No human input

I call this passing slower moving traffic. It happens every day by many drivers in every driving jurisdictions. Pay attention to the speed. I wouldn’t sit behind a 32mph vehicle on the highway either.

Scott Jordan's profile picture
Scott Jordan7 months ago

Why'd you override? It made it into the correct lane. It just wanted to get around the truck. I'm the same way.

Edge Case's profile picture
Edge Case7 months ago

I don’t think you understand what happens when that lane is backed up during rush hour

Scott Jordan's profile picture
Scott Jordan7 months ago

If it's anything like the 101/80 interchange in San Jose, I have a pretty good idea! I do wish FSD would get situated for an exit earlier. Using FSD is such a relaxation-enhancement that having even a moment of tenseness is notable. How was this recorded, by the way?

Edge Case's profile picture
Edge Case7 months ago

Just tesla saved dashcam footage and overlayed with the telemetry data embedded in the videos

Scott Jordan's profile picture
Scott Jordan7 months ago

Thanks. I'll have to try to figure that out.
