I think a lot of people did not watch the video to the end … this is not about the Cold War

that's interesting, but what do you think of this?

Every dollar was well spent — because freedom is priceless. Watching that video now, seeing what we had already stopped slowly unfolding again, is painfully ironic. Looks like we learned nothing from Chamberlain. Did we?

Trillions spent on preparation for war with Russia and now we have a president wanting to get into bed them. Oh the irony

@rohanspatel The consequences of climate change fueled natural disasters have probably cost much more than what the US spent on the cold war, already. The future is here now.

October 1962 The Cuban Missile Crisis. November 1983 NATO Exercise Able Archer. To name a couple of the several times. Able Archer 83 is a spine-chilling reminder of how close the world can come to nuclear war without knowing for 10 years. Learn about Stanislav Petrov's role too

Bad logic to say that it wasn't 100% since it didn't happen. That assumes that the cold war spending didn't deter it. It's possible that our cold war spending prevented WW3 and saved every single life on the planet.

Wars cause damage within borders, so their impact is relatively limited. But global warming affects everyone. People rarely care about what concerns everyone.

They didn't invade cause we spent the money on the Cold War. Really disappointed with carls argument.

"Beware the military industrial complex" Eisenhower said

I just have to think, here it is, so many years later, and wars are still being fought (Ukraine and Russia I mean) kind of the old way. I guess we could trim the defense budget more than a little.
