Jordan Peterson explains why some painful memories never leave you and how to let them go. if old memories still upset you, if they still grip you, if they come back involuntarily, it means there are holes in your map of the past. you went somewhere that wasn’t a good place and you don’t know how the hell you got there. you can’t forget anything you don’t understand. especially if it hurt you. the part of your mind that’s concerned with threat thinks it could happen again because you still don’t know what happened. break your life down into seven different periods. elementary school, high school, your first relationship however it makes sense to you. write down the most significant positive and negative things that happened during each period. ask yourself why the negative things happened and what you were doing right so the positive things happened. then ask yourself how you could do more of the things that worked and less of the things that got you into trouble. maybe you were 16 or 30, and you didn’t know what the hell was going on. now you’re older and wiser. you can go back, look at those moments again and think about how you should have conducted yourself. one of the ways your brain computes how stressed you should be is by counting how many terrible things have happened to you that you still don’t know how to fix. the more of those there are, the more dangerous the world appears. the more dangerous the world appears, the more stressed you become and stress makes you old. if you can clean up your past, you lower your stress, improve your immune function, decrease the rate at which you age, and move forward with more effectiveness. don’t worry about writing it perfectly. just get it down as stupidly as necessary. you can always edit it later. it’s your life and you want to have it.

And if either one of you could talk about that, and then just my — my second question would be the Pentagon recently, this week gave well-deserved award upgrades to the members of Gulf Company 21 Marines who served at HKAI and Abbey Gate during the withdrawal and evacuation. I wonder if you, Mr. Secretary, could speak a little bit about that and maybe give us a little bit more in terms of what to expect from this Afghanistan review in terms of further proper recognition and proper accountability?” Secretary of War Pete Hegseth Hegseth: “On the first question, Pope’s going to do his thing. That’s fine. We know what our mission is. We know what authority we have. We’re very clear about that. We follow that the orders of the president. We’ve got lawyers all over the place looking at what we’re doing and why we’re doing it, and giving us every authority necessary under the Constitution and under our laws to execute it. So, we feel very confident across the spectrum about what we’re doing and why we’re doing it, and the legal justification that we’re following in order to do it. You mentioned the Marines at Abbey Gate, and you know, what we’ve undertaken at this Department is a historic Afghanistan review. So, we have, over the course of months, reviewed what happened leading up to and including the events at Abbey Gate and the disastrous withdrawal in Afghanistan. There’s never actually been a full accounting in this Department of the decisions that were made. There’s been sort of papered over congressional attempts, but never a real deep dive where we brought everybody in to talk about what happened and why it happened. That has happened. That review will come later this summer, and I think you’ll find it to be probably the most comprehensive review this Department has ever done about a single series of events. And it’s because the — the cascading effect of what Joe Biden did in abandoning that mission, the way that he did and that disastrous withdrawal had ripple effects for our military, for our country, and for the world. That’s why reestablishing deterrence is one of the core pillars of what we’ve been doing at the War Department, because the world looked at that disaster and made choices. Vladimir Putin made choices, Hamas made choices and saw that America wouldn’t do anything about it. Houthis shot at ships. They made choices because Joe Biden and his administration were seen as feckless and weak, and that withdrawal was a part of what the world sawm people hanging to planes as we as we fled. That deserves a full accounting, which is exactly what we’re doing. Sean Parnell, our chief spokesman, one of my senior advisors, has been leading that effort, getting to the bottom of it. And one of the revelations was that those Marines at Abbey Gate who showed courage, who were out there exposed, knew there was a threat, nebulous mission. The only gate that’s open did not receive the kind of proper recognition they should have for their heroism. So, one of the early results of this Afghan review is to ensure they get the due recognition and award they deserve for the heroism and courage they showed at that gate. Despite the bad decisions of this building and that administration, those Marines acted heroically, and we’re going to recognize them for that. Jerry, thank you.”

South West Muslim Ummah kindly watch this video. This is my message to Yoruba speaking Muslims in Nigeria. A few months ago, during the disagreement over the date for the beginning of Ramadan, many Muslims from the South West on social media criticized and disrespected the Sultan of Sokoto simply because they disagreed with his position and opinion. In the midst of that debate, some non-Muslims from South West also joined in criticizing and insulting the Sultan. Today, there are reports of controversy surrounding a Masquerade festival in Ibadan, with some people saying that women should not come to our during the event because see the Masquerade is a taboo for women . My point is not that Muslims should cut ties with their non-Muslim family members or neighbors. Islam encourages kindness, justice and good relations with everyone. Rather, my point is that when it comes to matters of religion, Muslims should avoid allowing disagreements to divide the Ummah and should respect one another even when they hold different opinions. 1. The Muslims of the past dedicated themselves to preaching Islam with wisdom, patience and good character. Through their efforts, many people accepted Islam and passed it down from one generation to another. 2. Many Muslims today have moved away from that legacy. Instead of strengthening unity, we often argue among ourselves, create divisions, disrespect one another and sometimes even speak against centers of Islamic learning and communities that played significant roles in spreading Islamic knowledge. 3. South West Muslim Ummah kindly watch this video. This is my message to Yoruba speaking Muslims in Nigeria. A few months ago, during the disagreement over the date for the beginning of Ramadan, many Muslims from the South West on social media criticized and disrespected the Sultan of Sokoto simply because they disagreed with his position and opinion. In the midst of that debate, some non-Muslims from South West also joined in criticizing and insulting the Sultan. Today, there are reports of controversy surrounding a Masquerade festival in Ibadan, with some people saying that women should not come to our during the event because see the Masquerade is a taboo for women . My point is not that Muslims should cut ties with their non-Muslim family members or neighbors. Islam encourages kindness, justice and good relations with everyone. Rather, my point is that when it comes to matters of religion, Muslims should avoid allowing disagreements to divide the Ummah and should respect one another even when they hold different opinions. 1. The Muslims of the past dedicated themselves to preaching Islam with wisdom, patience and good character. Through their efforts, many people accepted Islam and passed it down from one generation to another. 2. Many Muslims today have moved away from that legacy. Instead of strengthening unity, we often argue among ourselves, create divisions, disrespect one another and sometimes even speak against centers of Islamic learning and communities that played significant roles in spreading Islamic knowledge. 3. When has any president EVER sent BILLIONS of dollars in cash on pallets to a foreign country, and how is this normal, in any way, shape, or form? What if the real reason wasn't at all what they told you it was for? What if that money actually had to do with Osama Bin Laden being moved to a specific location to become a "trophy kill," for a specific someone's reelection campaign? What really happened to Seal Team 6 and Benghazi? Why did Hillary and her staff lie during a session in Congress about why they were being attacked at the embassy and why were they trying to cover it up? It's been over 61 years and we still don't have the truth about the JFK assassination.
