The temperature maybe? The frigid temperature mixed with the heat of the rifle probably didn't help. You can see that dude's breath. Also, that magazine looks like it's made of something cheap.

The bolt was slightly out of battery, so the round was unsupported by the chamber. When he touched off the unsupported round, the case ruptured, and all hell broke loose in the receiver.

What happened to it, is it’s not an AK.
