Here's a not-so-great Tesla Full Self-Driving moment from last evening. While taking an exit ramp, I think the AEB system activated and the car slowed to 13MPH. I’m not sure if it was reacting to the road, shadowed area, bridge, or lights above. I’m sure it was AEB because the accelerator pedal input was ignored even after FSD was disabled. Thankfully, there was no harm, no foul, as no one was behind us.

If I were not on FSD, this would have been an accident. I noticed FSD slowing down and almost wanted to press accelerator pedal. Thanks once again, FSD. Watch that Tesla on the left.

UPDATE: Driver who claimed his Tesla Autopilot sent him barreling into a grandmother's home has been charged after data shows he manually overrode the feature. Michael Butler, 44, sent his Tesla 70 MPH into the home of Martha Ávila, 76, killing her as she was trying to put away groceries. Butler claimed his autopilot malfunctioned, but Ashok Elluswamy, Tesla’s head of AI, found that he floored the accelerator pedal and overrode the self-driving feature. “In this case, the driver manually overrode self-driving by pressing the accelerator all the way to 100% of the accel pedal in this residential area... They reached a speed of 73 mph during the crash, and had the accelerator pressed even after the crash.” Butler was charged with manslaughter and is being sued by the family of Ávila.

I promise you I was paying full attention to the road and I did not see the person until after the car began to slow down. Visibility was awful. Amazing work Tesla AI

Earlier today, I saw my Tesla do what some people might describe as "brake stabbing" Then a pedestrian I didn't see jumped out and crossed the road. My Tesla stopped while I was distracted and on my phone. Tesla Self-Driving is preventing crashes every day.
