Lizzo said what I’ve been trying to say for a long time. Artists of today can’t be as famous as artists from the 90s and early to mid-20s, like Beyoncé, Whitney, Celine etc. Your album could sell 20k and a single chart at #90 and a larger percentage of the world would know it. Now you can sell 5 million in a week, and the number of people who will know it won’t be as many as it was then. A song could have 10 billion streams on Spotify and you would see people who have never heard it. The streaming era has totally fragmented the market that even the most famous and successful artists of today are still not as famous as even the least famous and successful ones from back then.

My secret project that has been in the works is finally done!! Adopted 2 benches for Bin at Esplanade, Singapore! 💜🤍 Starting this project as a little secret of mine helped me cope with the grief I had in my heart, because it made me look forward to something, and I really wanted to give something back to Bin for all the times he brought light in my life~ it’s the last precious memory that Bin and I will share together so I’ll keep close to my heart! 🫶🏼 It all started since a few days after the news broke… It started as a thought of “what if I can adopt a bench in Singapore?” after finding out that the Seoul bench adoption will expire in a few years… then the thoughts sparked into an action and after so long it’s finally completed 🥹 23/4/23: the thought process started and the search for a project began 26/4/23: contacted Esplanade 28/4/23: first viewing of the available benches 3/5/23: second viewing of some selected benches, decision to adopt & donation made 29/5/23: Plaques on benches installed It was tough choosing the locations, but what finally got me to decide was the amazing view and breeze at the waterfront bench 🌃🌬️, and the sighting of some butterflies and the moon at the Forecourt garden bench 🦋🌙 Bin-ah I asked you multiple times to tell me what you wanted since I couldn’t decide, and it seems like you wanted both (hence the strong winds like you were giving me a hug at the first bench and the moon at night at the second bench)… so I got you both are you happy?🤭 You can choose to sit at the waterfront bench and enjoy the breeze and pretty waters which I know you’ll love, or you can go to the forecourt bench and lie down and sleep because it’s so big 😂 The waterfront bench has a 10 year renewal so I’ll renew every 10 years as I renew my promise to remember you and live well~ and the Forecourt garden bench is a lifetime adoption which means you’ll always be remembered~ But Bin-ah was it your doing? I wanted the plaques to be up on the 26th of May since 26 is a special number because of your birthday, but there was a delay so it couldn’t be done! Then I requested for 6th June as it’ll be the 49th day of you leaving to a happier place but… suddenly the admin staff told me they were installing it yesterday??? What were the odds? It was right after my exams… was that you delaying the project because you wanted me to focus on my exams?🥹🥲 I wrote in my letter that I wanted you to bless me for my exams and I guess you did by celebrating with me with such news after the exams 😌 I guess you also wanted to visit earlier 🤭 It’s a bittersweet feeling really… I’m really happy with what I’ve done yet it hurts thinking of the reason of why I even thought of this project to do… I’ll come often when I miss you so please visit often okay! You did mention that you wanted to come to Singapore for the fancon, so now I’ve made a place that’s specially for you so please visit often!! 😄 My favourite moon, you’ll always shine the brightest! I want to make it really clear: If I were ABC, I would fire Jimmy Kimmel. But the government should stay completely out of this controversy. Kimmel has a right to speak and even say incredibly stupid, tasteless, and unfunny things on his show without federal crackdown. ABC has the right to air this garbage. And Disney has the right to employ him. But that doesn't mean Kimmel SHOULD say it. It doesn't mean ABC and Disney should do nothing. And it definitely doesn't mean you and I have to give a dime to The Mouse. Kimmel, ABC, and Disney are proving that they don't have any standards. They don't care about the responsibility they have as broadcasters to not pour gasoline on a fire. But that's not a government issue. Want to see real change? Let Disney know with your pocketbook.

I got a smart meter recently and saw you can download a HDF file with the data so I had the idea of writing a script that could parse that and show the data in a useful manner. However I discovered that someone has already done this and done a really good job on it. The video explains how it works. In simple terms it uses the ESB smart meter data and shows a breakdown of how much data you are using and when and also recommends plans and estimates what each one would cost based on the data. The tool is available at easier to read on Laptop or Tablet or then your phone to Landscape.

Who exactly is this 99.9% you believe supports you and your claim to the hard work of others? From what I see, the entire UNP is against you. You say there’s a provision to appoint a UNPier through the national list. If that’s the case, why didn’t you get your nomination ratified by the party? The UNP has a leader, a deputy leader, and members. Why didn’t you? If you were so determined to enter parliament, you could have contested from the UNP. Jeevan had faith in the party, contested, and won. You could have at least contested from the NDF with the others. You didn’t. Now you want to ride on the success of others, at the expense of the UNP and everything RW has achieved for the country and the party over the last two and a half years.

🚨 BREAKING Doug Ford just announced a $2.2 BILLION HST rebate on new homes. Up to $130,000 per home. One year only. Here’s what they’re not telling you: THEY ALREADY TRIED THIS. The first version was for first-time buyers only. Ford HIMSELF said it “didn’t move the needle.” HIS WORDS. So now they’re spending 4x more to do it for everyone. Ontario’s deficit is $13.4 BILLION. The provincial debt is about to cross HALF A TRILLION DOLLARS next year. And at the SAME press conference, Ford said, and I quote, “Government doesn’t have an income problem, it has a spending problem.” Meanwhile the actual problem: development charges, zoning, red tape, municipal fees that add $200,000 to a home, it all goes untouched. They’re treating a broken leg with a Band-Aid. A $2.2 billion Band-Aid. From a government that says it has a “spending problem.” What. A. Joke.

I’m moving a motion for Toronto to finally receive a share of the HST, to invest in the services you rely on here in your city, every day. Please sign the petition: It’s budget season again in Toronto and the cracks are showing between the City’s revenue and the services that the City is expected to provide. For decades, provincial and federal governments have downloaded responsibilities to the City including roads, shelters, courts, daycare, public health and more. Today, approximately 27% of Toronto’s property tax revenue is spent funding extensions of federal and provincial responsibilities. But even as Toronto is told to take on more, the province prescribes what revenue tools are available to the City, and has restricted them almost exclusively to taxes on property. Toronto is one of Canada’s primary economic engines. The Toronto region generates 20% of the national GDP, 20% of Ontario’s jobs, and attracts more than 28 million annual visitors. This level of economic activity is enabled by the investments our city has made in social and civic infrastructure, including affordable housing, public health, roads and transit. We host people from across the country and around the world at events like Taylor Swift concerts, the World Series, and the FIFA games, which generates tens of millions of dollars in tax revenue for the provincial and federal governments. Meanwhile, the City shoulders the costs of additional policing, emergency services, transit, and crowd management that make these events possible. The math doesn’t work. Without any other source of revenue, municipalities have been forced to hike property taxes, cut vital services and delay critical infrastructure investments just to stay afloat. If Toronto is expected to continue driving national prosperity, it must be granted access to revenue tools that are predictable, reflect our investments, and grow with the economy. No more “new deals”. No more begging for one-time ad hoc program funding. It’s time for Toronto to have a fair share of the HST.

Massachusetts needs an ADU assembly line. When the state legalized accessory dwelling units, I was genuinely excited. Granny flats and backyard units create more housing capacity without changing what a neighborhood feels like. I also assumed there would be economies of scale, that someone would design a beautiful ADU, a company would identify how to build it at scale, and you start seeing them pop up all over the state. But that hasn’t happened, and here’s why: We have 351 municipalities, and every single one runs a unique site plan review process. So you can design a single ADU for all of Massachusetts, but you have to tweak it 351 times to fit the different rules for setbacks and placement. That adds time and cost for homeowners during the permitting process. I’m always looking for easy ways to increase the speed at which we build housing. Having a statewide uniform site plan for ADUs is low-hanging fruit.
