“What if they need to medicate as soon as they’re done using a public computer at the library applying for a job, because it was stressful?” “I’m very angry. I’m very opposed to this.” Victoria Councillor Susan Kim on a ban on hard drug possession & use 30m from... show more

If someone needs to medicate because of stress of applying for a job then I doubt they’re employable.

San Francisco’s drug crisis has drawn national attention. Is the city finally taking action? Recovery expert Cedrick Akbar breaks down shifting policies, rising crime, and the fight for accountability. Watch now

This type of asinine ill-informed comment does absolutely nothing to help people who are living through addiction. It is a pathetic attempt at a virtue signal that says “look, I care, and I am helping”. If you truly want to help people who are addicted, start with treatment.

And she's a councilor making decisions for our city! Unreal!

I know I'm a little hard on @langfordnow sometimes... But there's still only one @TogetherVic... May it never be eclipsed as a source of novel municipal policy positions. #yyj

This is nuts. And it shows how radicalized drug policy has become.

@SusanKimYYJ is very representative of the absolute stupidity destroying cities across North America.

She lives in an alternative universe

This person is a reason not to go on Twitter. I’m very angry too, angry that my tax dollars are funding and giving air to such outlandish and idiotic beliefs. Libraries are not built for addicts for Pete’s sake. If they were they’d have safe consumption rooms and no books

Susan Kim is wrong. Also it is not 'medicate'. There are many reason to not allow in libraries including danger associated with incidental contact. The BC decriminalization allows 2.5 g total, that is 2500 mg. As little as 2 mg fentanyl can be lethal, less for young children.

We aren’t allowed to buy private medical procedures to save the lives of our loved ones languishing on historic wait lists, , but leftist politicians won’t ask addicts to walk 30 metres before injecting tax-funded death into their veins? Cut back on the “medication”.

Correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t this a health issue and plainly out of municipal purview? @SusanKimYYJ should not be commenting on the health issues of yyj residents. #codeofconductneeded

I understand her compassion. I also recognize that she likely has Internet access in her office and in her home. She should open up access to those spaces of hers if use of a computer and drug use quickly thereafter is so important.

Susan Kim is delusional.

Ah, the classic stressful job application defense for public drug use! 🤔 Maybe we should also have a bar next to the library for a quick stress-relief cocktail? 🍸 Let's keep public spaces safe & drug-free, Councillor Kim 📚 #yyj #bcpoli #cdnpoli

This seems to be Susan Kim's SHARMARKE DUBOW MOMENT. Another in a long list of councillors who were voted into office for all the wrong reasons.

What efforts has @SusanKimYYJ made to assure heroin addicts have freedom to use @uvic ? I hate to say it but she is exactly what I warned you about during the election. A radical leftist activist.

Some quick math. 30m = 98.5’. Average stride is 2.5 feet. That’s juuust shy of 40 steps. Average pace 1.3 meters per second. That’s 23 seconds.

O M ’Fing’ G 🙄🤡🤷♂️

Is that an actual quote of a seating public official? 🤯

14005 people in this city voted for Susan Kim. This city is full of fucking idiots and we get the government we deserve.

Pretty sure hard drugs are not considered medication!!

What an asinine argument! Libraries are where one goes to borrow books and research. Community centers are where one goes if you want to participate in civic-funded groups and courses and/or learn how to play ping pong. They are not places to go shoot up drugs.

Enough good people simply need to vote such that this person is not re-elected

🤣

Unreal. Why would anyone want to let people smoke meth or crack in a public library near kids?

Geeze, I wonder if she is OK with said person using on the job if things get busy or stressful. And it's not medicating!!!!

So what about the public and their safety? The stressors and the risks when there is an environment that puts the public and kids to being exposed, or potentially exposed to the threat of violence, the threat of poisoning (drugs), etc . . . what about their safety?

Imagine being “very angry” at not being able to use fentanyl or crack at the public library. Idiots.

What if they applied to be a park worker? Does that mean Ms Kim would advocate for them to get a special exemption to get high by the swings because it may be too stressful?

Applying for a job. Hahahaha.

I think she’s completely missed the very real concern of diminished public safety . She needs dove taken on tours where she can see and feel the poverty, addiction, mental health problems people have & the impact on everyone else . The streets are not safe !

Does Ms Kim want to see crack smoking and heroin injections inside elementary schools too? Pick up and drop off can be stressful.

God forbid someone feels feelings. Who are these people?
