What if you could use @laravelphp within a native desktop app - shipping a static PHP binary? What if you could then use @laravelphp service providers to define native application behavior, such as menus in this app? Check this out 🤯 Cooking up something good with Simon Hamp 🍣 🍜

@laravelphp @simonhamp This is wild and I want it immediately

@laravelphp @simonhamp If this could ship with mysql redis and a queue it would be fucking OP

@laravelphp @simonhamp I was literally daydreaming the other day about being able to build native apps using PHP/Laravel. This is 🔥

@laravelphp @simonhamp wow 😍

@laravelphp @simonhamp Hyped! So cool! 😁

@laravelphp @simonhamp What the function, holy moly, this is crazy! 🤘🤘

@laravelphp @simonhamp This is cool 👀👀👀

@laravelphp @simonhamp Very interesting

@laravelphp @simonhamp I've been trying to build desktop apps in PHP for years. Python has them, mostly with Qt Bindings. We should as well. Even if it requires PHP be installed. I'll keep an eye on this. Good job!

@laravelphp @simonhamp Game changer!

@laravelphp @simonhamp What the heck! This is awesome 😍

@laravelphp @simonhamp I WANT TO KNOW EVERYTHING!! 😍

@laravelphp @simonhamp I need this 👹

@laravelphp @simonhamp This is excellent! I’d be super curious to see which system resources can be operated. Very cool!

@laravelphp @simonhamp Very impressive

@laravelphp @simonhamp Does this require two code bases? Or can I ship my cloud app as a desktop one in tandem?

@laravelphp @simonhamp I think the general idea would be to use the Laravel app as your app "backend". Configuring app specific features would require you to bundle the app code within the native application "host" itself

@laravelphp @simonhamp Excited to see how this plays out!

@laravelphp @simonhamp 👀

@laravelphp @simonhamp I'm guessing that it's only the PHP binary itself that is static - you're not bundling the Laravel application as part of the "static" binary as well right?

@laravelphp @simonhamp That's correct, the Laravel application (at this point) is not bundled

@matthieunapoli @laravelphp @simonhamp I do it already :)

@laravelphp @simonhamp I am surprised that someone has applied static php to desktop applications. And @simonhamp submitted an Issue to my project, which gave me the motivation to update this project on static PHP compilation. What you are doing is very cool, and I would be happy if I could help.

@laravelphp @simonhamp That is pretty dope! 😄

@laravelphp @simonhamp 👀👀👀

@laravelphp @simonhamp 🔥

@laravelphp @simonhamp Wow, mind-blowing.

@laravelphp @simonhamp Now that’s pretty amazing!

@laravelphp @simonhamp I'm trully amazed thinking how the communication between php and electron api is made... i did some tests with node-php-server but i can't figure out how its done, awesome!

@laravelphp @simonhamp Also it will be great to develop cross-platform mobile application with PHP

@laravelphp @simonhamp So cool! Are you guys using Wasmer? I was playing around with something similar.

@laravelphp @simonhamp Nope, this is using a static PHP binary. I tried Wasmer, but the lack of network request capabilities is kinda annoying for this use case

@laravelphp @simonhamp Aha, very cool! Can't wait to see more of this 👏

@laravelphp @simonhamp With Tauri you can make it talk to the rust backend, but how is it working in the electron version? Are the node bindings exposed on the window object to javascript?

@laravelphp @simonhamp I guess it would be just for backend, the stuff you'd prefer to do BTS rather than in the main UI/UI thread ? Trading something like the NPM ecosystem(Electron), NPM+Rust ecosystem(Tauri) for @laravelphp?

@laravelphp @simonhamp Wow! 🙏🖥️👍

@laravelphp @simonhamp

@laravelphp @simonhamp Is this similar to what tauri app does?

@laravelphp @simonhamp

@laravelphp @simonhamp But then the binary needs to be updated (e.g. PHP Version) together with the code right? On one side a big win, but also this means even more possible outdated PHP installations. But sounds really nice!
