What is it about a baby's smile that can make you forget about everything else in the world for just a moment? There's something almost impossible to explain about the simple happiness of a baby. A little smile, a laugh that comes out of nowhere, those wide eyes when... they discover something new, or the way they get excited when they see someone they love. None of it has to be complicated. In fact, that's probably part of what makes it so wonderful. Babies don't need expensive toys, fancy vacations, or some elaborate plan to have a good time. Sometimes all it takes is someone making a silly face, singing a ridiculous song, playing peekaboo, or simply picking them up and giving them a little attention. And watching a baby experience these ordinary moments can remind us how much adults tend to overcomplicate happiness. We spend so much time chasing bigger houses, better cars, more money, more recognition, and the next thing on our list that we can forget how much joy can be found in something as simple as hearing a child laugh. There's also something special about seeing a baby's personality begin to emerge. None of this means children shouldn't be protected or cared for. They absolutely should. But there's a difference between protecting a child from genuine danger and protecting them from every difficult experience. Kids need opportunities to be physically active. They need chores and responsibilities. They need to experience losing a game, making a mistake, hearing the word no, waiting for something they want, and figuring out how to solve problems without an adult stepping in every time. They need to learn that being uncomfortable isn't necessarily the same thing as being unsafe. They also need parents who teach emotional strength without teaching emotional suppression. It's perfectly okay for a child to be sad, frustrated, scared, or disappointed. The lesson should be that those feelings can be handled. You can acknowledge the emotion while still expecting the child to move forward with self control. And maybe one of the biggest things parents can do is lead by example. Children watch what adults do even more than they listen to what adults say. If they see parents avoiding every challenge, complaining about every inconvenience, and giving up when things get difficult, they're going to notice. The goal isn't to make childhood miserable. It's to give kids enough love and security that they feel confident stepping outside their comfort zone. I think this little boy has already discovered one of life’s greatest mysteries: babies are absolutely hilarious… even when they do absolutely nothing. 😂❤️ There is something wonderfully funny about watching children interact because they have absolutely no interest in following the social rules adults spend years learning. An adult sees a baby and usually asks, “How old is he?” “Is he sleeping well?” “Does he eat properly?” “Who does he look like?” This little boy seems to have a much simpler approach: “Look at this tiny human. I love him. He is extremely entertaining.” And honestly, I respect the logic. The baby isn't telling jokes. He isn't doing magic tricks. He isn't performing some impressive dance. He is basically just lying there, staring around, peacefully existing. And somehow, that is enough. The boy looks at him and starts laughing as if the baby has just delivered the funniest comedy routine of the year. This is one of the things I love most about children. Their sense of humor doesn't need an explanation. They can find something fascinating that adults would completely overlook. A funny face. A strange little sound. A pair of tiny feet. Someone blinking at the wrong moment. Or apparently… a baby simply lying there. And the funniest part is that the baby seems completely unaware that he has become the star of the show. There's something special about having a young son who looks up to you as a dad. At that age, Dad can seem almost larger than life. He is the guy who can fix things, reach the high shelf, carry the heavy stuff, answer the impossible questions, and somehow make an ordinary afternoon feel like an adventure. And half the time, he probably has no idea just how closely his son is watching him. A little boy does not need his dad to be perfect. He just wants to be around him. He wants to follow him around the house, help with whatever he is doing, wear his old hat, imitate the way he talks, and eventually say, “Dad, can I come with you?” The little moments can seem insignificant when they happen, are sometimes the moments that fathers remember years later. Always be compassionate. ❤️ Whenever you get a chance, give them something to eat. Keep a bowl of clean water. Offer them a dry, safe place to rest. Stop for a moment and show them some love. The curious inability to simply say, “Well done.” Or the immediate qualification. “That’s nice, but…” An impressive phrase, really. Two words capable of draining the joy from almost any accomplishment. Then there’s the remarkable talent for making your success about them. You share something you’ve achieved and, within moments, you’re listening to a story about something they did years ago that was apparently bigger, harder, better, or more important. Your moment lasts roughly thirty seconds before being requisitioned for their use. My personal favourite is the forensic examination of your achievement. You receive praise; they begin a search for defects. Not because the flaws matter, but because your confidence does. And then, of course, there’s silence. No congratulations. No enthusiasm. No acknowledgment. Just a noticeable drop in temperature, as though your success has somehow inconvenienced them. The lesson is simple. Last week, I marked my birthday in a simple way—but it left me with a powerful reminder. I may not have abundance, but I have enough to make a difference in someone’s life. Hills I will die on as an elementary school teacher, who just wrapped up my 32nd year teaching! 1. If you are not PASSIONATE about blessing, serving, and empowering those you are blessed to teach, this profession is not for you. 2. Our students are not “ours”. They are their families, and we need to understand the magnitude of the calling, and responsibility we have to meet them where they are, and to help them to get to a place that they never thought possible. 3. As important as the curriculum is (and it IS important), the children in our classroom are what matter most. It’s our JOB to teach the curriculum to SERVE our students, NOT to use our students to push any sort of agenda. 4. Just as we teach our students to “leave things better than they found them”, we need to leave our students better than they were when they first entered into our classroom. Never let a day pass without pouring into each and every child. 5. We should not teach our children WHAT to think, but HOW to think, and how to use that knowledge to bless and serve not only themselves, but the world around them. 6. Our words carry little (or NO value), if we do not practice what we preach. 7. If we don’t make learning fun, children will view learning as a chore, and we we will be creating a generation of children who grow up to be young adults who don’t see the joy in learning new things. 8. The child that may be “difficult to reach/teach” (the one who may get on your last nerve more than you could ever imagine), is someone’s EVERYTHING. Get to know them as human beings, find out what motivates them, and do everything you can to help them to thrive. 9. Never tell a child they “can’t” do something. God has blessed each of them with far more strengths and talents than we may know, and it’s not our job to tell them what they can’t do, but to help them to realize all the things they CAN do. 10. Some people see a man being very cruel to a young boy here. That's not what I see. Achilles just taught this young boy something important. Something most people never learn. They never have anyone to tell them. ACHILLES TOLD HIM. Sure, it hurts to hear the truth, many times. The only people who make their mark in this world, who do great things...are those who can overcome their fear. The boy is being honest. He's seen the warrior that Achilles is about to fight. Have you ever looked at your paycheck, looked at your bills, and wondered where all the money went? There's something a lot of people don't talk about enough when it comes to being a man in today's world. For many men, there's still a strong desire to be able to provide, build a stable household, take care of the people they love, and have something left over at the end of the month. The problem is that doing that can feel harder and harder when the basic cost of living keeps eating up more of every paycheck. Rent or a mortgage, groceries, insurance, utilities, gas, car payments, repairs, medical expenses, and everything else can add up incredibly quickly. Even a man who works hard and tries to be responsible can sometimes feel like he is running just to stay in the same place. Then there are the unexpected expenses that always seem to show up at what feels like the worst possible time. That creates a lot of pressure. A man may feel like he is supposed to have everything figured out, even when he's dealing with the same rising costs and financial uncertainty as everyone else. He might not want to complain about it because he feels like he is supposed to simply handle it. But struggling financially does not automatically mean someone is lazy, irresponsible, or not trying hard enough. At the same time, there is something admirable about a man who keeps working toward a better situation instead of giving up. Maybe that means learning a new skill, taking on extra work, starting a business, cutting unnecessary expenses, or simply being patient while trying to get ahead. It may take longer than expected, and sometimes progress can be painfully slow. It's also important to remember that a man's worth should not be measured by the size of his paycheck. Providing for family is important of course, but being a good husband, father, friend, neighbor, and member of a community matters too. In a world where so many people are quietly struggling to keep up, maybe we should ask ourselves whether we are expecting ordinary working people to accomplish the extraordinary just to afford an ordinary life.

What if some of the most important lessons you teach your kids happen at the dinner table? Healthy eating habits are much easier to build when children are young. That doesn't mean putting them on some strict diet or making every meal a battle. It means helping them understand that what they eat affects how they feel, how much energy they have, and how well their bodies function. Kids should learn to enjoy real, nutritious foods while also understanding that treats are treats. Learning to read labels, pay attention to portions, drink more water, and recognize how different foods make them feel can give them tools they'll use long after they leave home. Parents also have a huge influence simply by setting the example. Children notice what we eat, how often we eat it, and the way we talk about food. Is your toddler suddenly throwing (or dropping) everything they get their hands on? Food, toys… you name it. You’re not alone. This week I’ve been introducing play schemas, 9 common patterns that can help to demystify your toddler’s seemingly random behaviors. And you guessed it: this is one. We call it the trajectory schema. If you take nothing else away from this post, let it be this: your little one doesn’t throw things because they are misbehaving or “bad.” Babies throw things because they are babies. And they are learning as they do so. Learning about cause and effect. Learning about gravity. Learning what (and practicing something new) they can do with their bodies. Learning hand-eye coordination. It’s a completely normal part of development. And the fascination won’t last forever. The real question is, how do you manage it? First, be proactive. Expect that anything your little one handles might reasonably be thrown or dropped. So choose wisely, avoiding items that are valuable or might pose a danger to them or others if they suddenly took flight. Second, depending on the age of your child, begin introducing some natural consequences. Put the toy/object away temporarily after it is thrown (if throwing it is dangerous or inappropriate). And involve your child in the subsequent clean-up. You can also redirect. Explain which things are and are not for throwing. Model the correct use of these objects. Finally, lean into it. Recognizing that young children are drawn to throwing, provide items that are safe and acceptable to throw. Soft toys. Socks. Balls. "Why are young women using walking sticks?" One of the newer trends among Leftists is to use walking sticks or wheelchairs. I've seen this going on for a long time, but didn't think much of it until this article came out several days ago and Leftists had meltdowns over it. The people doing it tend to be fully capable of walking and functioning perfectly fine when they're in the mood to do it. They almost always identify as some form of LGBT, tend to be female, are often overweight, usually don't work, and are often self diagnosed with things like ADHD, chronic pain, fatigue, migraines..., which they claim cause their disabilities. There are countless people with actual disabilities who are often in severe pain, truly have issues with walking, are missing limbs, mostly paralyzed, have difficulty speaking, are deaf or blind, have different diseases that they fight against every day..., yet they try their best to function like most people, work, get degrees, have families, socialize.... People with true disabilities tend to treat them like abilities. They have something that may be seen as a a disability, but instead treat it as a slight disadvantage that pushes them try doing just as good, if not better than everyone else. They don't make it their whole identity. These "disabled" Leftists on the other hand make it their whole identity. Their bios and posts are full of them trying to push how "disabled" they are. The real disability of theirs is laziness and feeling the need to victimize themselves in order to get attention that they don't get otherwise and probably didn't get enough of when they were younger. There is now "disability pride month" to push how much of a victim their self diagnosis made them because they need a month to remind you of it every day instead of every other day. I'm all for having a month, week, or day to celebrate truly disabled people who overcome their disabilities every day, but most of what I've seen is these scumbags taking over such things. These same people would have a meltdown over "cultural appropriation," yet here they are pretending to be disabled. It's a disgrace.

If you are not PASSIONATE about blessing, serving, and empowering those you are blessed to coach, this profession is not for you. 2. As much as we need to know our trade, getting to know (and to love), our players is far more important. 3. This is an INTENSE game, and it’ll never be “just a game”, but it IS a game. Remember that when you’re with your team, and more importantly, remember that when you’re with your family. 4. Just as we teach our athletes to “leave things better than they found them”, we need to leave our athletes better than they were when they first entered into our program. Never let a day pass without pouring into each and every individual. 5. Life is complicated enough, let’s not complicate the game in such a way that we take the joy of it away from others. In other words… Keep it simple. 6. Our words carry little (or NO), value, if we don’t practice what we preach. WE as coaches should be learning and growing each and every day, just as we expect our athletes to. 7. As much as we all want to win those championship rings for our athletes, make sure you don’t lose your wedding ring in the process. 8. The athlete that may be “difficult to reach/teach” (the one who may get on your last nerve more than you could ever imagine), is someone’s EVERYTHING.
