What is Pi App Studio’s New creation Pricing Model? Pi Network (Pi Network) has announced a major change to how creators will pay to build and edit apps through Pi App Studio, with the new pricing taking effect on August 24, 2026. Until now, Pi heavily subsidized App Studio... for all creators. Under the introductory model, creators paid just 0.25 Pi to create an app and another 0.25 Pi to edit one. But Pi says the actual cost of providing AI-powered app creation is significantly higher than what creators were paying. That means Pi Network has been covering much of the difference. Now, after collecting data on how creators use App Studio, Pi is changing that approach. So, what exactly is changing? (1) Standard App Studio pricing is coming From August 24, creators will face a standard creation and editing price that more closely reflects the underlying cost of the AI services used. The exact price will not necessarily be fixed. Pi says it may vary depending on the resources required to create or edit an app. Importantly, Pi says it will not add a markup to the underlying AI service costs. (2) Some creators can still receive subsidized pricing The biggest change is that Pi is not completely removing its subsidies. Instead, subsidies will become more selective. Creators whose apps attract a sufficient number of real users can continue receiving the previous subsidized pricing. The focus will be on apps demonstrating genuine utility and usage from distinct users, rather than activity generated by the creator alone. (3) Pi wants creators to build useful apps This is arguably the most important part of the new model. Pi says not every app created through App Studio becomes something that other people actually use. Some apps are created simply for experimentation, testing or potentially spam. Continuing to subsidize every creation equally could therefore consume significant network resources without producing meaningful utility. The new model is designed to change that incentive. Creators now have a stronger reason to build apps that solve problems, attract users and provide value to the Pi ecosystem. (4) Subsidized pricing is not permanent or guaranteed Qualifying for the subsidy will not be a one-time decision. Pi plans to regularly review creator eligibility using newly generated data. A creator who does not qualify when the new pricing model launches could qualify later if their app attracts more genuine users. Likewise, the qualification criteria, pricing structure and number of creator tiers could change as App Studio develops. (5) Existing creators have a short window to improve The new pricing model begins on August 24, 2026. Before then, existing creators can improve their apps and encourage more Pioneers to use them. Pi specifically recommends improving an app's usefulness and usability, collecting feedback and continuing to build products that solve real problems. Pi wants its resources going toward apps that people actually use. Today our Pi main screen changed to the following which we can see there will be another Hackathon! I believe this is a great work and deployment from CT! And Hackathon should be continuing to expand to apps which can connect to all industries widely in the world. I can see some Pioneers disappointed. Because these pioneers don't pay attention to Pi Network vision and mission and not understanding white paper well. They just want to get a car, property and cash ASAP. This is a short-sight. The eco system is Pi Network blood. This is critical. I used an example to make pioneers understand well what the relationship pioneers and CT is and what our pioneers task is. CT and pioneers are like a man's two feet. CT is on the right foot and pioneers are on the left foot. CT is like 💡, pioneers is like ⚡. We need to walk together to move. I am the person practice Law of Attraction many years and I do see a lot of change in my life! I believe everything can change to better after we change our heart and our mindset. On the way to Pi success journey, all our community should work together and help each other. Because we are on the same boat. We use our heart on it and we love it and it is in our life and it is our light and hope! Nobody want it fail. I read a story about a bird who has two heads share one body. But one head jealous another head and hate it. So he seduce the other head to eat a poisoned fruit. He is very happy to see the other head die. But after a few minutes, his head feel very painful and died too. I use the story to describe our poineers community. We should understand how to make Pi succes. If you hurt other poineers community, actually it will hurt your community too. I have no discrimiation on different price and respect all Pi Communities. However I would like all pioneers understand why we call GCV, it is not because ourselves greedy. It is because Pi need to start from high price to protect it on open mainnet. We all know a lot of pioneers come from the bottom of our society. They are in hardship, they even cannot afford food and place to live. And these kinds of pioneers has occupied most community. Nobody can prevent them to sell Pi becuase they are Pi holders. They need to survive, this is also the reason why there are a lot under table exchange to FIAT. Even 0.85$ or maybe 0.01$ they will sell Pi. What will happen, if the price is this low? I don't think this price can make eco develpe well. I talked with a Chinese mall rep, he told me many merchants hesitate to put their high value products on the mall is because the price big difference. If they use a price, then pioneers barter and sell in a lower price mall. It will hurt these merchants. This is the reason most merchant won't put high value products. How about the low consensus price bartered by pioneers? Yes, the merchant get a lot of Pi. However they still cannot survive if close mainnet more than 3 months-6 months. The pioneers will used up all his Pi. Then Pi has no relationship with him/her. For myself I have no Pi to use even if I have all basic coin and security circle migrated. All has been locked for 3 years. Now I changed to 90% so I only have 9 Pi in 2-3 years after almost 1 years mining. All bonus Pi cannot use now. before price united. So why we need open mainnet and when it's the good time to open and can we make it faster? I think Yes! WE build up Pi public blockchain is like we are building a highway. When the highway complete, all drivers need this highway because it can bring them benefit. And the highway can charge them fees every time when they pass. Pi is similar like a highway. The drivers are outside eco and different organization. We all know Pi WEB 3.0 blockchain has great value. This will attract outside eco come. When they come, they don't have Pi to pledge to use our blockchain. So they need to use their FIAT to buy our Pi. However, if our inner community has difference on price, it's like the highway has been controlled by different groups. These groups charge different fees. It will confuse outside eco and make them hesitate to come. That's why I believe open mainnet need united price for outside eco. Of course united price can help inner eco develop grow fast too. There are two options regarding price: 1. Let the pioneers and merchants slowly reach the agreement and we do nothing . This is let it go naturally. I do know some pioneers advocate this way. But I am sure it will take long journey because more than 45 million pioneers or maybe will never reach agreement. They will use from $0.01 to 1 million $ different price. 2. Our pioneers community advocate GCV because it has been accepted by a lot pioneers and merchants already. If all pioneers can understand this GCV price logic and if they hold Pi, they will support it. The reason is so simple. It relate to their self interest. This can be done very fast if we all united together. Another reason is based on a business accounting system. All business has tax reporting system even crypto currency. From 2019, USA IRS has the tax regulation on individual crypto currency capital gain. Currently most merchants are pioneers, they use their individual Pi Wallet. I see recently there is developer/merchant business wallet come out. Then they should use business Pi wallet. So it's easier for them to track crypto business profit and loss. As an accountant I know all capital gain or loss are calculated by using USD in USA. So accountant need a unified price. If not, the company will hesitate to join Pi eco system. Based the above reason, i call on Pi Community to support GCV price so that eco can satisfied prosperous condition to open mainnet. As for KYC and migration, the technology part has been mature or almost mature. And we believe CT and all pioneers can follow very fast. During close mainnet all merchants should do barter according to your availability. Please don't put all your products now! Close mainnet period is for cultivate the Pi Payment environment! If you have inventory and small items, you can put maybe 10% or less of your products to barter. All business owners should realize before opening mainnet there is risk of loss. From December 17th to around the 30th, the migrating speed was over 50,000 to 100,000 per day, but now it has dropped to just over 10,000. What is the reason for this decline? If it was previously possible to migrate over 100,000 per day, why has it changed? The CT has stated that they will OM until the first quarter of this year to bring the migratiion in line with KYC amounts. However, if it's technically feasible to achieve a higher migration speed, why isn’t it being done? The answer is quite simple: it depends on what everyone does with the Pi after such large migration numbers. If pioneers rush to buy and sell, hold onto their Pi coins, or trade at low value, it will impact the speed and efficiency of the next migration in these regions. This principle is not only theoretically valid but has proven true in practice. For instance, countries like the Philippines, Indonesia, and Malaysia have a solid educational foundation in GCV. Most pioneers there are highly aware of the risks involved in participating in the black market, which allows them to generate a substantial amount of GCV data. As a result, their migration speed is notably fast, and there are many large wallet migrated. To help the CT regain momentum, we all need to cooperate. Engage with the migrated Pi and participate in the GCV barter ecosystem. Be cautious of individuals who aim to deceive you for personal gain; devaluing the Pi often serves as a tactic to exchange something small for your valuable treasure. It's crucial to educate pioneers about the true value of what they hold and encourage them to avoid dishonest practices. I urge everyone to actively participate in partial Pi and partial FIAT barter. The more GCV data we generate, the more secure our wallets will be. Once OM, it will play a crucial role in the economic development of both China and the world. If you pay attention to our migrartion speed, you might have noticed that it has slowed down recently. From December 17th to around the 30th, the migrating speed was over 50,000 to 100,000 per day, but now it has dropped to just over 10,000. What is the reason for this decline? If it was previously possible to migrate over 100,000 per day, why has it changed? The CT has stated that they will OM until the first quarter of this year to bring the migratiion in line with KYC amounts. However, if it's technically feasible to achieve a higher migration speed, why isn’t it being done? The answer is quite simple: it depends on what everyone does with the Pi after such large migration numbers. If pioneers rush to buy and sell, hold onto their Pi coins, or trade at low value, it will impact the speed and efficiency of the next migration in these regions. This principle is not only theoretically valid but has proven true in practice. For instance, countries like the Philippines, Indonesia, and Malaysia have a solid educational foundation in GCV. Most pioneers there are highly aware of the risks involved in participating in the black market, which allows them to generate a substantial amount of GCV data. As a result, their migration speed is notably fast, and there are many large wallet migrated. To help the CT regain momentum, we all need to cooperate. Engage with the migrated Pi and participate in the GCV barter ecosystem. Be cautious of individuals who aim to deceive you for personal gain; devaluing the Pi often serves as a tactic to exchange something small for your valuable treasure. It's crucial to educate pioneers about the true value of what they hold and encourage them to avoid dishonest practices. I urge everyone to actively participate in partial Pi and partial FIAT barter. The more GCV data we generate, the more secure our wallets will be. Therefore, it's important for everyone to read and share the Pioneer Handbook I wrote which has been translated into 30 languages to raise awareness among pioneers. By learning from the Pioneer Handbook and participating in GCV bartering, we can improve China's migration efforts and foster ecological development. This stability can ensure that the value of our Pi endures for future generations, rather than becoming worthless in a few years. I’ve been using the early version of Naval's new app Airchat for a year. Last week it went viral. And with it the haters came out in full force. Here’s why I’m still bullish on Airchat and believe it will change social media forever: 💬 Talk with real people: Twitter is the closest app to Airchat right now. But it’s completely impersonal. I’ve already built stronger connections with people on Airchat than I have from years of using Twitter. 🎤 Transcription is awesome. Voice notes are long. You don’t know if they're relevant. Having a text version of the voice note to scan makes it easier to find relevant content. 🗣️ Transcription supports multiple languages. I can record in Hebrew, and you’ll read it in English. It works great! Try it! 👥 Groups: launched this week. This focuses discussions around specific topics. Can’t wait to see more of this in the weeks ahead. 🏆 Talk to people you couldn't in other settings. Part of this is because it's so early. But you can speak to people like Naval that you wouldn't have been able to speak to otherwise. And a response to the haters: “It’s just Clubhouse” It’s not. Saying it’s Clubhouse is like saying Zoom is Clubhouse. Or a Podcast is Clubhouse. Clubhouse is sync. Airchat is async. Clubhouse is 1:many. Airchat is 1:1. “It’ll die down. Every new social app dies” Maybe. Creating a new social app is hard. It might die. But what’s that matter to you. The relationships you build last whether or not the app becomes a unicorn. “Twitter will just copy it like they copied Clubhouse” They might eventually. But what’s that matter unless you’re an investor in Airchat? I predict apps will copy it. Discord channels will offer this feature, and it will be awesome. Turning text chats into real conversations. WhatsApp is long overdue transcription for voice notes. Ideas from Airchat will get added to many apps. “I can’t use Airchat in places I can’t talk” The intimacy of Airchat is a feature, not a bug. Certain settings are meant for talking, others aren’t. Airchat is about conversations with people. You can’t do Zoom meetings everywhere either. “Twitter conversations are also conversations” Yes, but they’re far less intimate. You’re talking to a wall of text, not a person. You don’t date over text, you date over voice. It’s more intimate. You’re talking to a real person. “The content is boring” It will improve over time. There will be more content. The algorithm will improve to show you the best content. Groups will allow you to find specific content you're interested in. “I prefer Twitter” Good. Use Twitter. I use it too. “The hype will die down” Probably. But what’s that matter to you? You’ll only use apps that have 100m DAU?
