What really makes our police officers this irritated? Poor training, wrong instructions or poor pay? Even innocent journalists - easily identifiable- and only armed with a camera-stand and microphone- had to face their wrath ... Media Council of Kenya Kenya Union of Journalists #Maandamano

When colleagues in the trade rescued Cecilia Ngunjiri after she was injured. Are our media personnel under threat from police? Or is it that police are under attack (being exposed) by journos? Why is @MediaCouncilK taking a very cautious position?

@MediaCouncilK @KUJ_Kenya I know a gentleman, a university graduate, rank of inspector, who quit the service because he couldn't cope with this behavior. Education matters!

@MediaCouncilK @KUJ_Kenya Some journalists are so irritating, provocative and at times demeaning to the officers. In short, some journalists are just rogue

@MediaCouncilK @KUJ_Kenya It's simple, look at history of Kenya police. A tribal police created by the white men to brutalise natives into submission. When we changed from white to black colonialists, its mandate remained the same. Until we overhaul the purpose of the force, no law or name will change it

@MediaCouncilK @KUJ_Kenya None of those, they make only 20% of their pay from the government with the rest coming from the public so when you have them live within the government pay even you wouod be angry. We are fighting to fix the wrong problems.

@MediaCouncilK @KUJ_Kenya They don't listen. So police have to do that for the sake of peace in Nairobi.

@MediaCouncilK @KUJ_Kenya No body is above the law! Even the Journalist! Don't badmouth just because you've a written "Press" budge..... Have respect where is needed. Yes, you've a right to work, do you think the @NPSOfficial_KE are there for display? They're working as well, and it's there right.
