“What Satoshi solved is the difficulty adjustment. Dynamic difficulty in the mining so that it reacts to the market. Letting the market set the price but fixing the rate of supply and the total supply. The now-famous 21 million limit. Those were Satoshi's additions." - Blockstream CEO Adam Back... show more

that's pretty succinct for me. and explains the gap in the prior attempted decentralized proof of work based ecash design ideas (1997-2004) that satoshi solved (2008/2009) with bitcoin's elegant difficulty adjustment solution.

Satoshi fixed the supply. @BlockstreamJade secures your stack offline. The Blockstream app manages it. On-chain, Lightning, and Liquid in one interface.

And he geniusly add both ECDSA dig-sig with Proof-of-Work via SHA256 hash mining, that's the major contribution from Satoshi.

@adam3us The recent down trend in difficulty adjustment is something new and reflects the shift public miners are making by moving to AI factories. At some point I hope it will be profitable to mine at home again. Its more important than ever to run a node.

It’s beyond phenomenally extreme. ं

Bitcoin lets the market discover the price. But it does not let the market change the supply. That separation is the breakthrough: flexible difficulty, fixed issuance, and rules every node can verify.

Satoshi fixed supply at 21 million while letting markets set price through difficulty adjustment. That elegant balance remains Bitcoin’s core innovation.

А мне он говорил, что 21 млн - это идея Хэлла Финней, как удобна степень двойки.

he turned math into money and made it self-correcting pure genius

Ok but what happens if a miracle energy source comes along and dramatically reduces the cost to mine?
