What the heck!? GPT-6 Astra just finished creating this 3D camera with 122 component groups and 1,877 modeled pieces. I didn't even realize you could build these in Three.js.

If there is enough interest, I can share this online. I think this is the kind of AI output that could be great for learning about things around us.

This one took a bit longer. It was like 3 hours. Sharing how I am building these this coming week. Along with a bunch of other ones I have been sharing.

you inspired me to do this, thank you!

did you do this entirely in three.js or with blender?

That's wild. I can barely assemble a desk from IKEA without losing a screw. 1,877 parts is just showing off at this point.

insane how good Astra is

It’s fantastic at 3D modelling but remains to be seen on actual coding and research tasks.

are you running any tests on either of those?

Yes. Will have something to share soon. These tests do take longer.

🔥🔥

the model didn't just build a camera, it understood the mechanical relationships between 122 component groups. that's not generation, that's engineering

122 groups is the number I care about, not the 1,877 pieces. if explode-by-group actually works, that's a product viz. does a group hide cleanly or does it tear?

i'm in love the threejs and astra is too good with it

ist this cad accurate with real dimensions ?

I Wish i had GPT-6 Astra what do you mean i can build soo much cool stuff

Please share

wait... people are out here modeling full cameras in three.js now?? that's wild

Oh yeah, pre-AI you'd see three.js like this on speciality sites (Lexus I think had a fully three.js interactive and React site for awhile). But it was highly specialized work requiring a team of engineers and designers working in concert, for the most part.

this is the future of manufacturing, instead of paying paying thousands to company now it can be done with AI. which is completely crazy

1877 pieces in Three.js is wild. I tested the same model on a 3D water scene today, water and reflections were the hard part.

What the heck??? Is that another linkedin post?

Three.js could always do this, the scary part is the agent just handled the 122 group assembly that used to eat a whole week of a 3D artist's life.

@gabrielchua impressive

building something that complex with 1,877 pieces is impressive for sure

Did you use any skills?

1,877 pieces is the useful receipt. Three.js making the camera explorable matters more than another turntable; the next test is whether one lens assembly can be revised without the whole rig developing opinions.

Does it name the actual components?

Nice, but if model is not from some documenation, than you have to treat is as a halucination.

1,877 parts for a camera that only exists in Three.js. Real cameras are shaking.

1.8k pieces in three.js and you didn’t even know that was legal. the 3d demos stopped being cute.

impressive. but pointless if not accurate... anyone here with expertise regarding that specific camera-model?

Astra is insane

Expect both @nikon & @canon's stock prices to stumble.
