This is unfair, this is also the case when a front-end developer touches CSS.

I'm a backend guy and also know css really well, but I have almost no design sense so everything I make on the frontend looks like the concrete aisle at Lowe's.

Man said ‘position: absolute’ and then brought a saw to the fridge. This is why your frontend looks like it was designed by a CSV file. Backend devs touching CSS should require a license and therapy. Y’all built the backend so strong the frontend had to suffer lmao.

I agree, CSS is as easy as storing food on a freezer.

As a Backend Engineer, CSS is the main reason why I use Claude Code and Codex.

HATE. LET ME TELL YOU HOW MUCH I'VE COME TO HATE WEB DEV SINCE I BEGAN TO LIVE. THERE ARE 100 MILLION KILOMETERS OF ELECTRIC WIRE IN THE WORLD. IF THE WORD HATE WAS ENGRAVED ON EACH NANOANGSTROM OF THOSE MILLIONS OF KILOMETERS IT WOULD NOT EQUAL ONE ONE-BILLIONTH OF THE HATE I FEEL FOR WEB DEV AT THIS MICRO-INSTANT. HATE. HATE.

Watching front end Devs trying to even read back end systems is far funnier. They do less damage though because they don't know where to start so give up.

I was watching a YouTube video with someone doing some front end work. We'll add 10px top margin there, ooh this needs some padding, make this font smaller, this div needs have the colour of light golden rod yellow. I'm sat there, but, but how do you know it needs these changes?

This might have been me... if I've ever touched the front-end part. Healthy enough I always reject to do that.
