I’ve never really bought this argument. Sure “Hispanic America” is a more meaningful descriptor, and perhaps “Latin America” did originate in France as a way for them to exert pan-Romance cultural influence over us, but how does “Latin America” contribute to our balkanization? We still are united under the framework of Latin, which excludes the Anglo north. 🤷🏼

The use of “Latin” America essentially severs one of our civilizational roots by diluting the historical and philosophical specificity of Iberia/Hispania (reconquest, discovery, circumnavigation, mestizaje, etc.) within the wider Euro Mediterranean “latinidad”. It is neo-colonial in as much as its function is to shoehorn France into a civilizational process it played no part in—outside of promoting fragmentation and destruction through freemasonry and liberalism.
