🎙️ Today I watched the podcast featuring Smita Prakash and Trilochan Singh — not once, but twice. And honestly, I was deeply disappointed. Trilochan Singh presented misleading and factually incorrect claims, and surprisingly, Smita Prakash — an educated and respected journalist — didn’t challenge a single one. Here's what troubled me most: 1️⃣ He claimed Maharaja Ranjit Singh’s official language was Urdu. That’s simply false — it was farsi. 2️⃣ He said Punjabi Hindus registered Hindi as their language. While a few did, the majority did not. If his claim were true, cities like Hoshiarpur, Pathankot, and Fazilka wouldn’t even be part of Punjab today. 3️⃣ He alleged that promises of “special treatment” were made to sikhs. No credible record supports this. 4️⃣ He denied Bhindranwale’s involvement in the attack on Nirankaris with Fauja Singh. But Fauja Singh’s own wife called Bhindranwale a coward who fled, leading to her husband’s death. 5️⃣ He claimed Congress didn’t back Bhindranwale. Even if we accept that, who then helped him escape when Bhajan Lal had him cornered in Chandu Kala, Haryana? 🧩 The strangest part? Trilochan Singh hails from Haryana and has been elected from there — yet his sympathies lie entirely with Punjab. Punjabi singer Bir Singh apologized for the mistake that happened recently in Srinagar, where he sang Punjabi songs during a program commemorating the 350th Martyrdom Centenary of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji. Bir Singh said that throughout his singing career, he has always sung clean and respectful songs. He also mentioned that he had come directly from Australia to Srinagar, and upon reaching there, his phone network and other services stopped working. The biggest mistake, he admitted, was on the part of his management team, who did not provide him with the correct details about this program. Earlier, they had done some commercial programs with the Punjabi Sahit Academy, and based on the same format of those programs, they started this one as well. “I went straight to the stage, and since my entire attention was on the audience, I did not notice the banner displayed at the back of the stage. This was my mistake, and I should have gathered complete details about what the program was about before performing,” he said. When they realized they were making a very big mistake that this program was actually dedicated to the Martyrdom of Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib they immediately acknowledged their fault, apologized to the sangat, removed their shoes, and recited Salok Mahalla 9. Bir Singh further said, “I accept this mistake of mine. I have dismissed that management team and will never work with them again in the future. Moreover, for any future programs dedicated to Guru Sahib’s history, we will ensure proper decorum is maintained.” He humbly requested the Akal Takht Sahib, Jathedar Sahib, and the entire Sikh community to forgive him for this mistake. “Whatever service you consider appropriate, I am ready to accept,” he added. “I am a humble Sikh, and I believe the Guru Sahib and the Sikh sangat are forgiving. Why isn't Canada cracking down on illegal truckers? You may have come across some of our trucking stories lately. No, we’re not talking about the patriots who were part of the Freedom Convoy in 2022. Those truckers were and are heroes. Rather, we speak of certain newcomers to our once great Dominion. You know, people who lack basic driving and language skills, yet are still somehow on the road driving 18-wheelers! And consider the number of trucks that are poorly maintained, resulting in a clear and present danger. And then there are those massive trucking storage yards in such Ontario cities such as Vaughan, Caledon, and Brampton. These yards are illegally situated on residential or agricultural land. Yet, instead of being shut down, these eyesores are tolerated by every level of government – municipal, provincial and federal. How weird is that? And as they used to say on those cheesy Ronco TV commercials, “But wait – there’s more!” Such as: many of these illicit trucking companies are fostering a growing underground economy that is breeding lawlessness on the roads. This includes everything from drug running to human trafficking. Naturally, there’s prolific immigration fraud involving temporary foreign workers employed in this industry. And then there are the rules that are being violated at every level – from the rules of the road to the rules regarding environmental stewardship (i.e., the illegal dumping of used motor oil and transmission fluid into waterways). But most shocking of all, nothing is being done to put an end to these dangerous shenanigans. Did we say “dangerous”? Correction: we meant to say “deadly”. Case in point: Adrianna Milena McCauley. This 23-year-old woman died in a four-vehicle collision on Sept. 10, 2024, on Coleraine Drive and King Street West in Caledon. Rajwinder Singh, a Punjabi asylum seeker, was behind the wheel of a transport truck that soared through a red light that had been illuminated for a full 10 seconds. In connection with the Winter Session of the Parliament, I met Union Defence Minister, Rajnath Singh and Union Minister of Social Justice and Empowerment (MoS), Ramdas Athawale. The Security Advisor of Manipur himself has said that the Kuki SOO Militants are taking part in this crisis. When I asked to abrogate the SoO agreement with the Kuki Militants, the Union Defence Minister replied that it is the duty of Home Ministry. I requested him to urge the Union Home Minister to execute the same as he himself is also a responsible Union Minister right now. 2) I also brought to the table that the Innocent Meitei villagers and women are lone defending their villages. Many innocent lives of the meiteis have been lost. Many were killed, both accounted and non accounted. There are lots of deployed forces here in Manipur right now. The villagers are now out of their jobs defending their villages, and as a result they are now struggling for their daily bread. 3) I also said that, the ground report should be reported by the representatives. Those who were elected from Manipur as Member of Parliament should not be silent at the moment. They should also raise concerns in the Parliament. Why were they elected as MPs. And they have to take up their responsibilities and power. 4) I also asked about using Indian Air Force for destruction of illegal poppy cultivation. The Union Defence Minister replied that the State is continuing the destruction of the poppy fields in almost all the districts. He also said that, due to the current crisis between the two communities he is hesitant to use air force as it may worsen the situation. So, he said to let the State Government to continue with their process. But I said that, destruction of Poppy Cultivation is not related to any community. The drug cartels should be uprooted. I also asked him not to relate the destruction of poppy with communities and requested him to help with the destruction of illegal poppy cultivation. 5) I also requested to announce ITLF, COTU and World Kuki-Zo intellectual Council as Unlawful organisations.
