You guys could've replied, 'in my 25 years of ordering experience, no one served us half full glass'😂

Does this girl seriously believe Germany is known for good customer service?😲😂 I’d venture to say it’s the most unfriendly

Germans and customer friendly? You’re the first person i see using those words in the same sentence. Germans are clearly not known for being customer friendly.

Say what you want about American tipping culture, but I cannot fathom this happenjng in the US. The waitress would have gotten in a fist fight with the back of house before serving a half-full cup to the customer.

when a Chinese says you are fake or hypocritical you should think about it.

I was a waiter when a student. You ask is everything ok so they can’t eat the food and then complain after and wanting it comped off the bill. I’d have just added some more juice to the glass. It’s juice not caviar.

Germany has the worst customer service and they hypocritical. You ask to get served in English and they say, "but you're in Germany, we speak Deutsch here" meanwhile there's hundreds of Germans traveling around the world not even bothering to learn the local language 🤡🤡🤡🤡

The drinking glass in question

If you are ever incapable of serving a 0.3l drink in a 0.3l cup for ANY REASON, you are obliged to use any size cup more than 0.3l and MUST give it full. This is the bare minimum in hospitality standards , do the fuck you want at your house I don’t care.

Missing the point. 0,5 is 0.5, and just because your c colleague is coming from a country where she has to be scared of cheating doesn’t mean his thinking is superior. In addition the restaurant hosts you and gives you customer service, but even if you pay a few Euros the waiter is not your servant.

The question is was your glass half full or half empty?

Merica that glass gets filled to the top by any server worth much. The fact a manager was involved!?🤣

If the menu was stipulating "large drink-500 ml" or "half liter bottle of soda" which is mandatory btw, your friend is a moron and so are you.

If the measurement is accurate then what is the problem? The glass? Sounds like Chinese propaganda.

Thst’s why the amount you buy is written in the menue, independent from the glass they serve.

It’s just funny that the people in the restaurant are so dense they do not understand the psychological effect of serving a half full glass.

German service sucks most of the time. What Germans hate is unpredictable things or a change of plans, like a complaint they didn’t expect. Just give them a kind instruction and you’ll see the difference. Germans love following instructions: “Can you please give me a full glass of juice? This one came half full.” They might not do it kindly, but they usually like to be told what to do, because that frees them from making decisions or taking responsibility. To make decisions and take responsibility they need to be 100% sure of what they’re doing. That takes a long debate, optimizing something irrelevant, trying to make everyone happy, and coming up with an imperfect solution anyway.

It's basically a Jedi mind trick. The same technique is used in high pressure sales. They get you to agree to things that are at first easy to just say yes to and then up the ask of you to another level afterwards. In the U.S., they want you to say, yes, everything is fine, because, once you verbalize that, it's harder for your mind to rationalize anything less than a decent tip.

When she said “yeah yeah, everything fine, thank you” I was like why does she sound Asian Then her colleagues are Chinese. Crazy how accents can be influenced so easily

This is bigger than a half-empty glass. It is the German habit of never admitting a mistake. We did it this way for ten years, so it must be fine. You hear that from waiters, from corporates, and from politics. If you cannot admit the error, you cannot change it. That is the actual problem.

Restaurants in the US solve this problem by serving all of their drinks on ice. The cup looks full, but half of the drink is ice. Also, in the US, if they ask that question, they are usually genuine. Their tips depend on you having a good experience, and everything affects that experience. It is not uncommon for a bad dish to be removed from the bill, as long as the guest doesn't (or hasnt) consumed the meal anyway. If you have a legit complaint, it will be addressed, within reason.

The best service I received in Europe was in former Yugoslavia right after its fall and before being overrun by tourists. The only decent service I received in Germany was from one of their highest priced restaurants in Munich, everywhere else was extremely unfriendly. I’d dare to say Bosnia (once again before tourists) had better service than America. But, honestly you can go to any restaurant in America, especially the less expensive, and get 30X better service than almost* anywhere in Europe. Doesn’t make sense to me as Americans would insist on tipping.

We have become zombies in Europe follow stupid rules without question their validity or usefulness accept rules even when they are obviously stupid & even contraproductive believe we are democracies but have only the illusion of choice & rights are ruled by EVIL criminals

They should get smaller glasses if they don't want to disappoint. Having to say 'zero point 3 liters' shows that ounces make more sense...

So TLDR German waiters suck, and get confused when you ask for what you paid for

Fed Up's profile picture

Everyone complains about the tipping culture in the United States. But that’s exactly what prevents situations like this. You provide bad service you don’t get a tip. Provides good service and you get a good tip. Easy Peezy.

In what universe is 500 ml a LARGE drink?? 😂 That’s 16.8 fluid ounces ! This is large:

Pauline Vos's profile picture

The goal of the question is to ask if they want to order another drink without directly asking. It was never a literal question lol.

magic 🇺🇦's profile picture
magic 🇺🇦2 months ago

so when you order a juice, it doesn't mention it's 0,5 L ? surely the menu where you picked it mentions it, so that's a completely invalid complaint... the fact that they have weird cups with stupid size is another thing
