When a 9 1 1 call came in reporting a man in a construction uniform with a possible firearm, our Communications Centre acted quickly to assess the information and coordinate a response - helping ensure the safety of everyone involved. The results? •Arrest made with 3 charges laid, including possession of imitation weapon for dangerous purpose; weapon recovered. National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week reminds us that behind every call is a team working in real time to support officers on the ground and keep our communities safe.

This week, the SF Sheriff's Office Office took 1,600 pounds of illegal fireworks off the street in San Francisco. We also have new street ambassadors working 6th Street and 16th and Mission. Each week at the Drug Market Agency Coordination Center (DMACC), public safety officials and department heads discuss street conditions and public safety updates like these. We will continue to take action and stay coordinated to keep our neighborhoods safe.

You can run, but you can't hide! Recently, two officers from our Uncrewed Aerial System (UAS) team responded to assist an outside agency with searching a building of a business that was burglarized. These burglars attempted to avoid capture, but underestimated the skills of our UAS pilots. Our pilots launched the UAS into the attic of the business and located not one, but TWO suspects hiding. Both suspects surrendered to law enforcement and were booked for burglary related charges. This incident highlights not only the special skillsets and tools that the Sacramento Police Department possess, but also our collaboration with our outside-agency partners to ensure public and officer safety. I propose a COVID-19 Truth Commission to explore the disproportionate impact on marginalized communities, seek reparations, and ensure justice and equity in our future responses. We must also challenge the censorship that silences diverse voices in these critical conversations. Additionally, we will establish a Vaccine Safety and Utilization Panel to restore trust in our public health institutions through science, transparency, and community engagement. The Saint Paul Police Department has been using unmanned aircraft systems, or drones, since 2023. This technology provides officers with real-time information from above an active scene. Now in 2026, we’re expanding our drone program to help all first responders. Our team of trained drone pilots can now provide a live thermal view above a fire – allowing the Saint Paul Fire Dept to identify hot spots and develop the best plan of action. There are now two drone options: • A Saint Paul Police officer, who is also a trained and authorized drone pilot, can respond and launch a drone at the scene. • Or we can deploy one of our three new docked drones. Docked drones are remotely piloted, can be on scene in less than 3 minutes, and being to relay real-time information to responding officers or firefighters before they even arrive. Hot, dry, and windy conditions along with lightning strikes have sparked the TCU September Lightning Complex Fire, and CAL FIRE crews are fully engaged in the response. The fire has burned 13,790 acres and is 15% contained. Engines, dozers, hand crews, helicopters, and airtankers are all working together to slow the fire, reinforce containment lines, and protect communities in the area. CAL FIRE Incident Management Team 6 is coordinating this large-scale response. A Damage Assessment Team is in place and are actively inspecting structures. These assessments are ongoing, and verified updates will continue to be shared with the public. Crews are making steady progress but are also being methodical in checking for hidden “holdover” fires—smoldering spots from lightning strikes that can sometimes take days to appear. Extinguishing these holdovers is key to maintaining long-term containment and community safety. This remains a dynamic fire, with resources working around the clock until full containment is achieved. 🚔📹 Today, I was proud to announce that the City of Brampton has completed the installation of 360-degree camera technology at 50 intersections across our city — making Brampton the first municipality in Canada to deploy this technology at traffic intersections on this scale. 🇨🇦 🤝 Working in partnership with Peel Regional Police, this innovative technology is helping investigators solve crimes, support victims, and strengthen community safety. We are coordinating our international efforts—today we held relevant meetings, primarily regarding the United States and our European partners. Peace through strength is possible, and we firmly believe in this. The key is not to slow down and to keep the pressure on Russia—the sole actor responsible for this war, the one that wants it and is prolonging the aggression and occupation. Energy resources, particularly oil, remain one of the most critical factors for peace and real security. And Europe must work more closely with America and other global partners on energy resources, not with Russia. We are preparing our diplomacy and international communications to ensure strong positions not only for Ukraine but for our entire Europe. I thank everyone who is helping us.

We are working to make our Mission BART Plazas safer. We recently launched a 90-day, multi-agency effort at the 16th and 24th Street BART Plazas. The goals: stop illegal fencing, address open drug activity, connect people to services, and make these public spaces welcoming to all neighbors. Departments—from our public safety and transit agencies, to our Office of Economic and Workforce Development and Recreation and Parks Department—are working on this effort. After the first month, we’re seeing promising results. With stronger enforcement, improved lighting, new cameras, ambassadors on the ground, and real-time data sharing, we are delivering the coordinated response these neighborhoods deserve.
