California: During the most critical part of wildfire operations on the Bain Fire in Riverside County this afternoon, air operations were shut down due to a civilian drone flying over the fire. (Audio attached) This was at a time that structures were under threat, as well as lives of both civilians and firefighters. They had multiple tankers working the fire on a “no divert” for life safety, and some idiot flew their drone over the fire likely hindering protection of both life and property. The suspect was detained and taken into custody. (Audio attached) It’s impressive to hear just how fast this operation took place, and the professionalism involved. Last year, California had 186 drone incursions over fires, over 75% of those led to the halting of, or delaying of aviation operations over active wildfires. It’s a major problem. One punctured through the wing of a scooper. The number was so high, they excluded it from national numbers so it wouldn’t skew the annual trend graph. If you are a long time listener of the show, or a reader of my articles, you know what I think should be done to these drone flyers. The fire is now nearing 1,000 acres, zero percent contained, is still active, and they are evacuating an animal shelter that is threatened.

The attacks, which occurred at various times during the day, were decisively defeated through the vigilant response of troops and effective fire control, with no adverse reports recorded. The failed assaults further underscore the sustained combat readiness of OPHK troops and their dominance in denying terrorists freedom of action. In continuation of offensive operations, OPHK conducted follow-on precision air interdiction missions, including a strike at about 0315 hours on 22 April 2026 at Sowolowolo in the Sambisa Forest axis. The strike, executed after target confirmation, destroyed the remaining terrorist gun trucks in the area, bringing the total number of neutralised platforms to three. Additionally, another precision strike at Kaniram in the Mallam Fatori axis targeted terrorists observed conducting burial activities following earlier OPHK strikes, resulting in the neutralisation of scores of fleeing and regrouping elements. General Masemola received a full briefing from the NATJOINTS on possible intervention measures that can be immediately implemented. The National Commissioner stated that immediate intervention measures will be implemented such as: ▶ we are enhancing and heightening our crime combating operations to deal decisively with these illegal mining activities… ▶we are deploying more police officers on the ground such as crime intelligence officers, members of the hawks, detectives and tactical units to prevent and combat these illegal mining activities. ▶ We have also established an integrated and multidisciplinary intervention team within the PROVJOINTS AND NATJOINTS to ensure implementation and enforcement of our country’s laws. What is currently happening here, is illegal and detrimental to the environment, including water sources and most importantly, poses a health and imminent safety risk for our communities. This is theft of minerals which belongs to all South Africans and which legally done can contribute to economic growth, community development and decent jobs in the area. It’s important to highlight that only the DMPR can legally issue a permit or license for any mining activity. So anyone who is not in possession of a permit from the DMRE to mine, is committing a crime. ▶This intervention team will include officials from various departments led by SAPS inclusive of the Department of minerals and petroleum resources, department of water and sanitation, the department of forestry fisheries and the environment, the department of home affairs, the department of justice and constitutional development and others. It’s time to debunk some LIES about the LA firestorm. Los Angeles experienced a FIRE HURRICANE. We have two seasons in Southern California that most regions don't have. One is the fire season. The other is the winter Santa Ana wind season — when we get extremely high winds. The fire season used to go from July to September. But now, due to changing weather patterns, our fire season lasts until the winter months — which means for the first time in millennia, our fire season ran into our high wind season. With Hurricane-force winds blowing (110+ mph), no helicopters or flying air tankers could take off. Therefore LA could not fight the wildfires by dumping millions of gallons of sea water on them (like we usually do). And amount of water from tiny fire hydrants (or water guns or water balloons, for that matter) could have stopped a fire hurricane. Unless the GOP has UFO technology that can fly helicopters in hurricanes, L.A. would have burned under Republicans, too.

Sandy Fire Air Monitoring Update - Due to the Sandy Fire’s proximity to the Santa Susana Field Laboratory (SSFL), hazardous materials and radiological monitoring teams continue proactive air quality and radiation monitoring operations around the fire area. Currently, seven air sampling radiological monitoring locations have been established surrounding the incident, including the Chatsworth, Lake Manor, Bell Canyon, Oak Park, and Simi Valley areas. These monitoring systems are being used to establish background environmental conditions and to continuously evaluate smoke and air quality conditions as firefighting operations continue. The Sandy Fire has NOT reached the Santa Susana Field Laboratory property, and there is currently no indication that any radiological material has been released from the site. The attached drone video shows the current fire perimeter in relation to the SSFL area. Public health and environmental agencies, including Ventura County Public Health, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, California Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC), Ventura County Air Pollution Control District, and the U.S. Department of Energy, remain actively engaged in monitoring conditions and supporting incident operations. The U.S. Department of Energy is supporting air monitoring operations around the SSFL out of an abundance of caution. Radiation measurements collected as recently as 2025, along with modeling conducted following the 2018 Woolsey Fire, continue to indicate that the extremely low levels of residual radioactive material at the site pose no risk to public health, even in the event wildfire activity reaches the area. The SSFL is located in an area historically prone to wildfires, including the 2018 Woolsey Fire. Following that fire, air, soil, and ash sampling conducted by DTSC did not detect the release of chemical or radiological contaminants from the site. Additionally, radiological assessments conducted by the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health found no discernible levels of radiation in tested areas surrounding the site. Residents can continue monitoring local smoke and air quality conditions using the AirNow Fire and Smoke Map: About the video: The background map shows the drone location as a circle with a blue arrow. A life-or-death situation, twofold: a mother elephant and her tiny calf had fallen into a well and were hopelessly stuck within its watery depths. The mum was submerged, using her trunk as a snorkel, whilst her baby struggled to keep her head above water. When our teams arrived, the exhausted calf couldn't tread water much longer. Immediate action was needed. We guided ropes around the calf and dragged her to solid ground, carrying her to shade, away from her mother's distressed calls. Meanwhile, our bowser and supplemental water pump began the slow work of filling the deep well, raising the water level so the mother could float to freedom. Hours later, when the water reached the lip, we threw ropes around the mum and used the bowser and Land Cruiser to pull in tandem and haul her out. The moment she stood on all four feet, we released her calf. They ran straight to each other, reuniting with palpable relief. We flew home to the most wonderful sight below: baby happily suckling from her mum, finally free and together. Hard to think of a more pressing problem than giving our nation’s firefighters the world-class technology they deserve, which is why I’m incredibly proud to back Stuart Landesberg and the Seneca team as they take on this challenge. The need is so clear here that you don’t even have to see all of the stats to know it’s a massive issue. Wildfires have a devastating impact on our communities, as we saw in L.A. earlier this year. While fire tech is growing, it’s still a surprisingly small category given the magnitude of the problem. When a fire starts, it spreads exponentially, so every second counts. Seneca’s fast-response aerial suppression drones launch autonomously and leverage AI to support and supercharge firefighters in situations that were previously unsafe, inefficient, or impossible to reach. Stuart is a hard-charging and extremely purpose-driven 2X founder (previously ran Grove Collaborative).
