I genuinely cannot understand how someone can watch this story and still stand there, looking at two women, and somehow decide that the wrong one is the victim. On one side, you have a girl (Yıldız) who has been mistreated her entire life. Since the moment she was born, she was treated like a sacrifice for a conflict she was never even part of and later we find out that this conflict never even existed. Her right to study was taken from her. She was pushed into a marriage at a very young age just imagine being six, seven, eight years old, living in fear of being tied to someone you don’t even know. She was treated like a servant in her own home, by the very people she thought were her family. And just when she gets close to the happiness she dreamed of, the man she was engaged to shows up with another wife. She gets mistreated by that wife, by his family, and even (unintentionally) by him, because he was trying to run away from his own feelings, and that only caused her more heartbreak. The whole world was literally against her. She fought through all of that, only to find out in the end that everything she suffered for was based on something that wasn’t even real. Her entire life was built on a lie. That she isn’t even part of that family that she has literally no one in this world. Now on the other side… You have a girl (Melek) who, yes, was taken from her biological mother but she was raised by loving parents. She had everything anyone could wish for: education, freedom, a happy childhood, a healthy environment. She lived her life, fell in love, went out, made choices and no one questioned her, no one controlled her. And then what did she do? She found out that her man was engaged to another woman before marrying her (and even saw him marry her) and instead of holding on to her dignity, she chose to stay, to fight for a man who lied to her, to hold onto a marriage he tried to end multiple times. She used her unborn child to keep him tied to her. She lied constantly, and her excuse was that she was “protecting her marriage” a marriage that was already broken from the moment Serhat removed that ring at the airport in episode one. She tried to hand Yıldız (a woman who had already suffered enough) over to dangerous people. Then she found out the truth about her own birth (that her father ra*ped her mother.)And still no empathy. No moment of humanity toward her own mother. All she cared about was herself. And even though none of this had anything to do with Yıldız, she still found a way to blame it on her. Instead of holding her father accountable, she went and made a deal with him to get rid of Yıldız. She literally made a deal with the devil just to hurt Yıldız one more time. And after all of that… you want me to feel sorry for her? You want me to call her a victim? I honestly cannot believe we are living on the same planet with people who see this and still say, “she’s the victim.” Not morally. Not logically. Not emotionally. Peggy lived alone at the end of Hawthorn Lane, and the only one who really kept an eye on her was a big black Doberman named Bear. People in the neighborhood used to cross the street when they saw him. He looked like the kind of dog you read about in the wrong kind of story, all muscle and sharp ears. But anybody who actually knew Peggy knew that Bear followed her around the house like a shadow and slept on the floor beside her bed every night. Peggy was 79 and stubborn about living on her own. Her son had been after her for a year to move somewhere with people around, and she kept telling him she was fine, that she had Bear and that was plenty. One morning in the kitchen, she reached up for a mug on the top shelf and her legs just went out from under her. She came down hard on the tile and couldn't get herself back up. Her phone was on the counter, way out of reach, and the house was dead quiet except for her own breathing. Bear was at her side before she even finished falling. He nosed at her face and pressed against her, and when she told him to go, he ran to the front window and started barking, the deep kind the whole street could hear. He wouldn't stop, going from the window to Peggy and back again, over and over, until a neighbor two doors down finally came out to see what all the noise was about. She found Peggy on the floor and Bear standing guard over her, and she had the ambulance there within minutes. Peggy came home a week later with a cracked hip and a new respect for that dog. She still won't hear a word about moving. She says she already lives with somebody who looks out tor her.

On April 23 a woman named Gina Lorusso was killed in a car accident, and her dog escaped from the vehicle and was missing. Miraculously he was found in a pond yesterday. Gina was a turtle rider and a huge supporter from day 1. No one knows this until now, but in 2015 she worked for a Worcester restaurant called Bennie's Cafe, and she advertised on my website. The business was getting harassed by people who didn't like the things I was saying, and she wrote this epic response back to them that I published 11 years ago. I didn't know her that well, but she seemed like a great person, and will be missed by many:

The much missed bona fide national treasure, Dame June Whitfield was born 100 years ago today. She came to prominence way back in 1953 while appearing in the hugely popular radio show, Take it From Here, alongside Jimmy Edwards and Dick Bentley. From there her career went from strength to strength and by the time she appeared in Hancock's Half Hour as the nurse in the legendary episode, The Blood Donor, she'd been a household name for a number of years. Seriously, I cannot think of a more versatile actor than June Whitfield. Her Miss Marple, which she did for BBC Radio, is absolutely superb and I listen to it often. I had the pleasure of interviewing her about a year before she died. The subject was Kenneth Connor, who she knew and had worked with on several occasions (most notably in Carry On Abroad) and, just as you'd expect, she was charming and generous with her time. Anyway, I thought I'd post a quick blast from Ab Fab. It's a great line, beautifully delivered. God bless June Whitfield x

This has always confused me. She tributes to Her dad about never giving up on her and her mom for being her strength in her high school yearbook post. But yet she always says her dad left her after the divorce and her she never had a strong female figure. She said her grandmother on her deathbed asked her to forgive her mom. She said her grandfather was the only male in her life. And she was kicked out at 14. Had to live with a boyfriend and pay for herself. So is she lying about her childhood? Why didn’t she say thank you to her grandfather she says raised her and taught her everything about being who she is? Does it seem weird to you or am I just being a Candace and reading too much into this? How does she say it? It’s not sending me the right vibes.
