When David Cronenberg's "The Fly" (1986) was released, Jeff Goldblum wrote a letter to Vincent Price saying, "I hope you like it as much as I liked yours [The Fly (1958)]." Vincent Price thought it was terribly sweet. Price hadn't met Goldblum, but he wrote him back and went to see the movie. Price felt that the movie was "Wonderful right up to a certain point at the end" & believed that the donut sequence "went a little too far and it becomes funny". He added, "The film didn't become a moralistic tale, which is something a good horror film must have. "Frankenstein" (1931) is the greatest example of a moralistic film. The moral is "do not tamper with God's work". P.S: On this day, 40 years ago, "The Fly" (1986) was released in the USA & Canada.

Michael Bay on how he felt when he first saw Steven Spielberg's "Raiders of the Lost Ark" (1981) when he was 15 years old: "Interviewer: My understanding is that Spielberg really was the guy that roped you into directing 'Transformers' (2007). What was the first time that you realized that he was following your career? Bay: When I was 27, I did a whole string of commercials that were pretty famous, the type of commercial where people go to a bar [and say], ”Did you see that commercial?” That ”Got Milk?” stuff, a whole string of funny Nike ones, whatever. So I sent this reel [of my work] around Hollywood. I get this call from my agent. ”Steven wants to see you.” I go, ”Steven who?” ”Steven Spielberg wants to see you.” Okay. I drove down to his office. Howard Hawks on his meeting with Al Capone & what Capone and another famous Chicago gangster thought about 'Scarface' (1932) when they saw the film: "Interviewer: Did you have any contact with Al Capone while making the picture? Hawks: While we were making 'Scarface' (1932), five or six of them came out and said, “The boss wants us to see the picture.” And I said, “You go and tell him when it comes out, he can pay a dollar and buy a ticket. You don’t scare me. Why the hell don’t you come out and just ask to see it?” They reported to Capone that it was just great, and they invited me to Chicago to see him. They met me at the train, and they were late. One of the fellows said, “There was a killing last night and we had to go to the funeral.” I said, “Do I have to ride with you if there was a killing last night?” They said I could ride in a different car. But when we went into a café, they would sit with their backs to the wall, and I had my back to the door. We had some damn good-looking girls with us, a bit brassy but very pretty. When I saw Capone, we had tea, and he was dressed in a morning coat, striped trousers, a carnation, being a very nice man, saying how much he liked the picture. I was with him two, three hours. Then he asked me to come again, and I stopped by there. But there was a shooting in Chicago, so they said that he couldn’t come because he was hiding out in Atlantic City or something. Then he came to see me when I was working in Hollywood, and the cops came and arrested him right on the set. Interviewer: So he did see 'Scarface'? Hawks: Five or six times. He had his own print of it. He thought it was great. He’d say, “Jesus Christ, you guys got a lot of stuff in that picture! How’d you know about that?” I said, “Look—you know how somebody can’t testify if he’s a lawyer? Well, I’m a lawyer.” And he laughed. He didn’t give a damn. That’s not random — those are the three foods people on MAOI antidepressants are told never to eat. As a former psychiatrist, Hannibal Lecter knows this. He could be quietly admitting he’s off his medication, or simply amusing himself with a medical joke no one else understands. The third possibility is darker: he may be taunting Clarice. By naming foods she would be warned against as a patient, he’s hinting that he’s already diagnosed her — asserting control by showing he understands her mind before she understands his.

Me tonight !!! It’s absolutely INSANE!!! I was like “Whaaat just happened?!” The ref turns to me and I thought he said “You won” but he said “Your nose is broken” and I was like “WHAT” and he said “Your nose is broken” !!!! and I was like “WAIT—EXCUSE ME?!” I’m not even mad though. Well, I am mad, but it’s the kind of mad where you have to laugh because you KNOW you were robbed !!! And I was like… IS THIS REAL LIFE OR AM I ON A HIDDEN CAMERA SHOW ??? I literally turned to the ref and said “You’re kidding me right?” but no, apparently not. He said “You have to go to medical because your nose is broken” It’s okay though because BIIIG things are coming… and y’all know I’m never down for long !!! Stay tuned !!! P.S.
