For most orphans, it can take a while to play – and when they do, we know they've turned a corner in their recovery. Lemeki surprised us all, charging around from the minute she exited the rescue helicopter! Even the guineafowl couldn't escape her playful antics. This flock became her best friend and the feeling was mutual. When she changed stables, they relocated and came to roost on her roof! Her start was extraordinary: rescued as a week-old newborn in 2018 after she was spotted in the floodwaters of the Mara River. Today she is eight years old and one of the lead females of our Voi herd, edging closer to a wild life of her own. Sneaky, spoiled Mwana has unlocked a whole new level of relaxation: nursing and napping, in one fell swoop. Now that Murera is progressing in her pregnancy, she is less generous about breastfeeding, but Mwana still manages to sneak in sips here and there. It’s as if she thinks that Murera won’t even notice she’s there! 🚨#BREAKING: A Minnesota mother, Bonnie Pierce, escaped her burning house only to realize her toddler was still inside… ...and she ran BACK into the flames. Firefighters found her wrapped around her baby girl, shielding her with her own body. ❤️ Her daughter, SURVIVED, she saved her life. Her name is Bonnie Pierce, she was 38, a mom from St. Paul, Minnesota. On Saturday afternoon, a fire broke out in the duplex where she was home with two of her daughters. One of the girls, Aurora, did something incredible to save herself. She kicked an air conditioning unit clean out of a window and climbed through it to safety. And Bonnie made it out too. She was OUT. She was safe. But her other little girl, Grace, still just a toddler, was somewhere back inside that burning building. Her mother, Bonnie, didn't think twice. She turned around and ran back into the fire. When firefighters fought their way in, they found her. She had wrapped her own body around her daughter, shielding that little girl from the flames and the smoke with everything she had left. Protecting her baby to the very end. Bonnie was found unresponsive, she'd been without oxygen for nearly 15 minutes. She had burns over 48% of her body. First responders and doctors fought for her with everything they had. But on Monday, Bonnie passed away from her injuries. Little Grace, the daughter she shielded with her own body… SURVIVED. She's still in the hospital. But doctors say she is expected to make a FULL recovery. That is a mother's love. Her home is now covered in flowers and chalk writing from friends that say "HERO" everywhere. It's #WorldGiraffeDay. Come for a walk through with Pips. She is nine months old, and the youngest giraffe orphan in our care. We rescued her in September 2025 after her mother was killed by lions. She had been hiding alone for days, slipping in to drink at a water trough and disappearing again. Pips is in esteemed company. The first giraffe we raised to the wild was Kiko, rescued in 2015 and now continuing his rewilding at Lewa. Here is Noelia Castillo Ramos with her father only a few years back. Smiling. Happy. Loved. The government in Spain betrayed her 3 times. First, when they took her by force from her parents and put her in a government center. Over “financial troubles.” Second, when they allegedly allowed dangerous illegals into the country and did nothing to prevent it or stop them while they gang r*per her. Third, when they convinced her euthanasia was the best option and made her feel like there was no turning back. Even convincing her and her family that her organs were already compromised after the decision was made. We don't know if that part is really true, but it is difficult to believe or understand since she has been living for years after the injury she sustained jumping from the 5th story of the government center. It is difficult to think about, but she is likely taking her last breaths as I type this. Still praying for a miracle, but unfortunately, we are at the scheduled time. They planned to start the process 39 minutes ago, meaning she is already potentially in an induced coma, as the toxins that are designed to stop her from breathing begin to be administered. She should be alive and well right now and maybe even starting a family of her own. Instead, she is in a hospital all alone for what is scheduled to be the last moments of her life. Regardless of what happens, please pray for her.

My husband and I decided to open our hearts to a 10-and-a-half-year-old dog. We weren't looking to adopt another dog, but when we learned that she had spent three months at the shelter without a single visitor or adoption inquiry, we couldn't bear the thought of her growing old and passing away alone. Although she wasn't with a rescue organization, her story was shared widely throughout the animal rescue community. She was incredibly gentle and sweet, and the shelter volunteers adored her. They loved her so much that they often let her spend time with them in the office instead of leaving her alone in her kennel. The day after we heard about her, we went to meet her. The moment we saw her, we knew we couldn't walk away. When we brought her home, she was covered in ticks. Helping her recover wasn't easy. We made countless trips to the veterinarian, patiently tried different treatments, and devoted a great deal of time to her care. There were moments when it felt overwhelming, but we never regretted our decision. All we wanted was for her to spend the rest of her life surrounded by love. In the end, we received the greatest gift of all. She stayed with us for three more wonderful years before peacefully passing away at 13 and a half years old, an impressive age for a dog. She brought so much joy into our family and will always hold a special place in our hearts. A citizen in Istanbul found an approximately 6-week-old kitten that had been left all alone on the street, crying for help and meowing from hunger and desperation. After feeding the kitten, the citizen took it to a shelter so it could be safe. But the story didn't end there. Most likely, the mother cat had only left her kitten for a short time to look for food. When she returned and couldn't find her kitten where she had left it, she immediately began searching for it. She wandered around the area for days, checking every shelter and clinic she came across. Then one day, she heard a meowing sound coming from a clinic. She immediately recognized that the voice belonged to her own kitten. Without hesitation, she followed the sound inside and went straight to her kitten. And the very first thing she did after being reunited with her baby was nurse it 🥺 How powerful is a mother's love... To recognize her own kitten's voice among countless others and never give up until she found it 😭❤️

Olare is a mother! Earlier this week, our beautiful ex-orphan returned to Ithumba and proudly introduced us to her equally beautiful baby girl, who we have named Ola. Olare was orphaned at a tender young age, but despite the heartbreak she faced, she never let her past define her. She has an enormous heart and has always been an exceptional nanny, first at the Nursery, then at our Ithumba Reintegration Unit, and later to her friends’ wild-born babies. In the series, we added a scene of them going on a trip after being discharged from the hospital. However, the ending everyone saw was the conclusion of the "main story," which follows the original novel. Initially, I intended to end it right there, but I felt it wasn't satisfying enough. So, I added a special chapter specifically to crush Korn even further. Now, let's get to the point. For anyone wondering when Boon was actually possessed, I’m going to reveal everything here. (Please look at the attached images for context on each scene.) Boon was protected by the Moon Deity and possessed her own magical spells, making it impossible for ghosts to harm or retain her. In EP4, when Boon returned to pack her things, her mother inscribed mystic symbols on her right palm to boost her power so she could fight Jomkwan, knowing her vengeance was powerful. If you look closely, every time Jomkwan touched Boon, her hands would burn so hot that smoke appeared. Yet, she fought through the pain without showing it. However, all those protective spells were destroyed the moment Boon grabbed the ritual knife to deflect it from stabbing Win. Once her guardian deity's power weakened, it was game over. My husband and I adopted a 10.5 year old dog. Not because we were looking for another dog, but because she sat at the shelter for 3 months without a single person inquiring about her or meeting her and we didn’t want her dying alone. She wasn’t with a rescue but people in the rescue community were networking her because she was the sweetest and was every shelter volunteer’s favorite dog. They would even let her hang out in the office with them. I heard about her and the next day we went to meet her and adopted her. She was covered in ticks when we brought her home, and it took a lot of vet visits, treatments, trial and error, and patience to finally heal her from it. There were moments where it felt overwhelming, but she was worth every bit of effort. We weren’t sure how long she would live but we didn’t care, because it wasn’t about us, it was about her. Thankfully she was with us for three years and passed just two months ago at 13.5 years old, which is ancient. She was an amazing dog and I loved her just as much as all my other dogs.
