#WATCH | Kathmandu, Nepal: On the Nepal floods, Indian Ambassador to Nepal, Naveen Srivastava, says, "The floods occurred on August 26, and as soon as we received the information, we coordinated with the Nepalese government and authorities and started tracking information about Indians who were missing in the floods. There were several groups of pilgrims who were travelling for the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra or returning from it. There were also workers from India employed at several hydropower projects in the same area. We shared all the information we could gather with the Nepal Army and Nepal's security forces, who were carrying out combing operations and search-and-rescue efforts. As of today, with the help of the Nepal Army, we have been able to rescue 166 people in total. This includes a 21-member group from Tamil Nadu that was travelling for the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra, which returned to India last Friday. More than 80 people from the ANDRITZ company, which is working on a hydropower project, and other Indians residing in the area have also been rescued by the Nepal Army..." He further says, "On the day the disaster occurred, we got in touch with the Nepalese government. I spoke to the Foreign Minister and the Chief of the Nepal Army and inquired about the assistance they required. Our first relief flight landed in Kathmandu on the night of August 26. It brought immediate relief supplies and equipment, including tents, sleeping bags, medicines, etc... We have sent four more flights. Based on the requests we received, they informed us last Friday that they needed specialised assistance for tunnel rescue operations. We brought in an 11-member team, which conducted a recce. Later, a 13-member team was brought in, and yesterday another 11-member team arrived with more specialised equipment... The second request from Nepal was for assistance in DNA analysis and testing. We brought in a 19-member team of forensic experts along with the required equipment. They are working in close coordination with the Nepal Central Forensic Science Laboratory. They have started collecting DNA samples and analysing them."
