When our Founder, Lewis Hamilton set-up Mission 44 three years ago, tackling school exclusions was a key priority. At 15 years old, Lewis was temporarily excluded himself, before being reinstated in his classroom, and has spoken about the impact this had on his mental health and fears for the... future. 🚨 Today, as school exclusions reach record numbers, we’re launching the ‘Nothing Happens in Isolation’ campaign, aimed at supporting students most at risk of exclusion through early intervention. 📝 As part of the campaign, together with Public First, we’ve published a first of its kind report which explores opinions of those at the heart of the issue - including teachers, parents and students. The report found that, in most cases, teachers spotted early warning signs from students that go on to be excluded, further highlighting the crucial role of early intervention. 🗣️ Now, we’re calling on the Government to take action to address the root causes of exclusions, in an effort to turn the tide and #PreventExclusions across UK schools. A Baloch Girl speaking about the closure of girls' schools in Paroom, Panjgur. As she bravely says, their parents happily allow them for their studies, but the government has shut down the schools and not providing them with facilities for their studies. The schools are closed for years due to lack of teachers and other basic facilities. The students, mostly girls of Paroom, organized a protest demanding facilitation in schools. As per, Baloch Literacy Campaign report, there are sixteen schools which are closed in Paroom. Most of them are girls schools. We appreciate this small struggle of the students and are happy to see them raising their voice for their education. NEW: Schools across the country are requiring students to lock their phones in a phone pouch for the entire school day, can unlock the pouch at the end of the day. Teachers and principals say phones in the classroom are becoming too much of a distraction. “The last couple years, we left it up to the teachers to kind of govern their classrooms,” said Danville High School Principal Jacob Bretz. “We were just running into the constant battle that temptation of that phone being accessible in the pocket, wondering do I have a message, feeling the notifications go off and the urge to check them.” Students are required to put all cellphones, ear buds and smart watches in the magnetically locked pouches at the start of the school day. At the end of the school day, the students are allowed to unlock the pouch. Good!

An old student of Tema Senior High School in the Greater Accra Region has confirmed to me that this is the situation in the school. How would students in situations like this turn out if the government pays their school fees but neglects to provide for their teaching and learning needs? The heads of schools are afraid to complain because they fear victimisation from the government. At the end of the day, the government boasts about the numbers that go through secondary school and credits that to the Free SHS policy. But would you like your son or daughter to go through this? This is a school in the Greater Accra Region. Some rural basic and secondary schools are worse than this.

Earlier today, Alberta’s government announced that as teachers and students return to the classroom this week we will be taking immediate action to reduce class sizes and address classroom complexity. We will be appointing a Class Size and Complexity Task Force, who will begin work in three important areas. 1️⃣ Collecting and publicly releasing class size and complexity data, which will help inform which classrooms are most in need of supports and resources. 2️⃣ Implement solutions from the final report of the Aggression and Complexity in Schools Action Team, which will be released soon. 3️⃣ Begin working with school boards, teachers, educational assistants to review and replace the 2004 Standards for Special Education.

According to parents, the school’s principle has prohibited girls in Hijabs from entering the school premises. Despite parental intervention, students were still denied access until news spread of the regional governor’s planned visit, at which point they were temporarily allowed to enter. Parents further claim that on a daily basis, girls wearing hijabs are being removed from classes and subjected to baseless comments and discriminatory treatment.

Today in the Assembly, Education Minister Jeremy Cockrill outlined what our government has done to try to reach a new contract that is fair to teachers and taxpayers.

This is a middle school which has only two teachers, who are teaching the students on contractual basis. According to the students rest of the teachers along with the headmistress often remain absent from the school. The school possesses no adequate facilities including doors & windows, desks & mats for students. It also lacks water & washroom facilities for the female students. Building of the school is ruined & is unsuitable to b used anymore. BSAC (BSAC) ,under the banner of BLC, demands for its renovation with all possible facilities & enough teaching staff to ensure the quality education of the students of Greshag. This is required on urgent basis.

Oregon has one of the shortest school years in the nation. Just over the river in Vancouver, the average K-12 student receives one year more of instructional time than students in our state. A recent poll showed that 80% of Oregonians support requiring local school districts to provide at least the national average of school days. Your kids deserve a world-class education, and on Day One I will work to increase classroom time and give teachers the resources they need so that all Oregon students and teachers can be successful.

This resulted in students counter-protesting and demanding that the teachers return to school. Now, I support the right for workers to strike. But look at this picket line. Keffiyehs and Palestinian flags. An all-girls school in London has nothing to do with Gaza or the Middle East. Why are these teachers choosing Palestine over their students?

Sainik School Tragedy: Bail Hearing Ends in Controversy In a shocking turn of events, the bail hearing of the accused students in the Sainik School student death case ended with the Principal Magistrate of the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) recusing himself from giving an order. According to Tadu Nancy, the victim's sister, the Principal Magistrate abruptly left the courtroom without providing a proper reason. The JJB later passed a verdict, stating that the accused students would be placed under the custody of the Vice Principal, where the accused students will be staying separately at the school, instead of being sent to a juvenile home. This decision has sparked widespread outrage, with many questioning the fairness of the judicial process. The parents of the other students studying at Sainik School have expressed deep concern over the safety of their children, especially since the accused students are still in the school under the Vice Principal's custody. They have alleged that the accused students, were seen playing and eating with other students after the Principal Magistrate sent the 8 CCLs(child in conflict with law) under the custody of Vice Principal of Sainik School on 4th of November, which has further fueled their anger and frustration. The CCTV footage of the incident has revealed chilling details about the extent of the bullying and harassment that the victim suffered. According to the footage, the Class 8 students started giving punishment to Haro for 30 minutes, during which his legs were shivering and after that the Class 10 students collectively punished all the Class 7 students together, and then they punished the victim alongside with a another student and then again they punished the victim alone. The footage also shows that a Class 11 student intervened to stop the punishment, but the damage had already been done. The victim was allegedly harassed mentally and physically for three hours before the incident occurred. The family has demanded that the accused students be removed from the school and placed in a juvenile home until the case is resolved. They have also demanded that the school take strict measures to prevent bullying and ensure the safety of all students. Three more students have been implicated in the incident. Initially, it was stated that these three students were not involved, but a review of the CCTV footage has revealed that they were indeed involved in the alleged ragging and physical a result, the parents of the victim have announced that they will file a complaint against these three students as well. The next bail hearing in the case is scheduled for November 15. The parents have urged the authorities to check the backup of the CCTV footage for the past 15 days and to take action against all the students involved in the incident. The case has sparked widespread outrage, with many demanding strict action against those responsible.
