When our Founder, Lewis Hamilton set-up Mission 44 three years ago, tackling school exclusions was a key priority. At 15 years old, Lewis was temporarily excluded himself, before being reinstated in his classroom, and has spoken about the impact this had on his mental health and fears for the future. 🚨 Today, as school exclusions reach record numbers, we’re launching the ‘Nothing Happens in Isolation’ campaign, aimed at supporting students most at risk of exclusion through early intervention. 📝 As part of the campaign, together with Public First, we’ve published a first of its kind report which explores opinions of those at the heart of the issue - including teachers, parents and students. “It’s different for every student and it’s based on what they need.” We spoke to Clare and Helen at Talbot School to find out about the tailored support they give children with SEND in a specialist setting. As part of our Plan for Change, we want to learn from special schools and spread their expertise across the schools system, whilst ensuring they are able cater to children with the most complex needs – restoring parents’ trust that their child will get the right support at a good, local school.

On behalf of the government and the people of Plateau State, I appreciate UNICEF for their swift response and the interest they have shown in the calamity that has befallen us, their intervention has given us hope. As a government we will continue to collaborate with all our international partners and make sure we maximize all the services they can render to our people. I also pleaded with them to ensure the people return to their communities by providing things that make life easier to the community like water,education as we start the program of ‘return to the community’. I appreciate them for coming and I look forward to collaborating more with our international partners.

We can source blankets inside of Gaza. They are available, but they are not free aid - they have been allowed in on commercial trucks by the occupation to be sold in markets, however, families cannot afford them. With your help, The Sameer Project can purchase them and distribute them for free to entire camps and areas that are particularly vulnerable and in need. We select camps to serve that get no other support. We select the areas that are the most disenfranchised, the poorest, the most in need. We give to all these families in one area so no one is left out, no one is “selected” over the other based on who they can reach out to on the internet for advocacy on their behalf. Instead, we support all of them to ensure equity and fair access to our aid. We are these families’ advocates. Here are 60 blankets going to the Al-Mutahabeen Camp in Khan Younis. We need more, we have to supply more blankets as temperatures continue to dip. Donate to our Return Home Campaign to be a part of our “Give Warmth to Gaza” initiative. Other ways to donate include: (Paypal option, please make sure to add a message saying "Winter") (Venmo option, please make sure to add a message saying "Winter")

🗣️FIGHTING FOR MORE SPEECH AND LANGUAGE RESOURCES 🗣️ Yesterday in Parliament, I was proud to raise the incredible work of Mikey Akers and the campaign we have been championing together, alongside Chris Kamara, to secure additional resources for speech and language therapy in our schools. Far too many children are being left without the support they need to find their voice, build confidence, and reach their full potential. This is not just an educational issue, it’s about fairness, opportunity, and giving every child the best possible start in life. Mikey’s determination and courage continue to inspire me, and I am grateful to Chris Kamara for helping shine a national spotlight on this vital cause. Let me be absolutely clear: I will not stop fighting for the resources our schools and children deserve. Every child should have access to the support they need to succeed, and I will keep pushing until that becomes a reality.

After laborious work of putting together Alternative Policy Statements, this afternoon we tabled these documents for consideration. For each ministry docket, we have indicated what we believe are the priority areas that should be focused on for funding, and the general direction we feel the Country ought to take in the various sectors. We don’t just criticize, we offer credible alternatives for our Country! Many thanks to my colleagues on the Shadow Cabinet and our technical team for burning the midnight oil. #KeepingTheGovtInCheck

Over the last decade I’ve helped several hundred families fight to get better support for their children. Right now the special education needs system is not working for too many children, too many parents and too many schools. The Government has tried to fix things but I fear that they have left parents with more questions than answers. Their changes will leave young people to the lottery of the system and place too much burden on teachers. We need to focus on real support for those who need it and start asking why the number of children with special education needs has increased so much in recent years.
