One old priest tells Solon: "O Solon, Solon, you Hellenes are never anything but children, and there is not an old man among you." The Greeks, he says, have forgotten their own past, while the Egyptians had written it down. And the priest gives a specific timeframe. The war between the Proto-Athenians and Atlantis, he says, took place 9,000 years before Solon's visit. The popular version of the Atlantis story fixates on the submergence, the island going under in a single catastrophic day and night. But if you actually go back and read what Plato wrote, the account is more layered than that, and the details that get glossed over are precisely the ones worth examining. There was a war before any of this happened. A civilization based outside the Straits of Hercules had been pushing inward, subjugating the peoples of the Mediterranean. What Plato describes as proto-Athenians organized a resistance, drove the Atlanteans back, and it was only in the immediate aftermath of that conflict that the geological catastrophe occurred. Here is the detail almost everybody misses. Plato does not describe the subsidence of Atlantis in isolation. He ties it directly to a severe erosional episode on the Greek peninsula itself, a landscape-scale stripping of soil and vegetation that left the bedrock exposed. If you have a catastrophic subsidence event in one location and a severe erosional event in another happening simultaneously, you are not looking at something localized. You are looking at a broad regional disturbance, and that description maps considerably more naturally onto the Younger Dryas impact hypothesis than onto any conventional tectonic explanation.

Less than 700 years ago those casing stones were still on the Great Pyramid. Think about what that means. If you were crossing the desert in the 1300s and you looked out toward Giza, what you would have seen was not the stepped, weathered structure that tourists photograph today. You would have seen a smooth, seamless white surface, enormous, rising out of the sand like something that had no business being there. That is gone now, stripped away, and what was exposed underneath is where things get interesting. The conventional dating puts construction somewhere between 4,500 and 4,600 years ago, Old Kingdom Egypt, and that has been the accepted position for a long time. But the erosion patterns on those now-exposed inner stones are raising some uncomfortable questions about whether that date holds up. Erosion takes time, and the character of what you see on those surfaces is difficult to square with a 4,500 year timeline. It is the same question that has been asked about the Sphinx enclosure, and the methodology is identical. You go to the geology, you look at what the rock is actually telling you, and you ask whether the standard historical account is consistent with what you are seeing. In this case, there is a growing body of evidence suggesting the answer to that question is no.

In the Timaeus, an elderly Egyptian priest criticises the Greeks for remembering only relatively recent history. He tells Solon that humanity has repeatedly suffered catastrophes and that Egypt’s written records preserve events the Greeks have forgotten. “O Solon, Solon, you Hellenes are never anything but children.” The priest explains that the Greeks have lost their ancient records through repeated catastrophes, whereas Egyptian temples preserved written accounts from much earlier periods. He then claims that Solon’s own Athens had existed in a much earlier form thousands of years previously. Atlantis is then introduced as one of the events supposedly preserved in those Egyptian records. “These histories tell of a mighty power…” He says Atlantis possessed: “a great and wonderful empire” and that its influence extended through the Mediterranean world. Plato explicitly says the Atlanteans had conquered North African territory: ”…as far as Egypt…” and European territory as far as Tyrrhenia, broadly associated with Etruscan Italy. So Egypt isn’t merely where Solon allegedly heard the story. Egypt itself appears geographically within the Atlantis narrative. Now understand. That is not just a real story about a parent and a child. That is God, and that is humanity. No one is forgotten by the Father. He did not fold His arms and wait at home for you to crawl back and prove you were worth it. The moment you were lost, He came after you. And the cost He paid to reach the very bottom of your pit was not patience, and it was not effort. It was His Son, sent down below all of it, so there would be no depth where His face was not already waiting for you to find it. So hear this, wherever it finds you. You were never forgotten, not for one second, not in the worst of it. The door has been unlocked every night since the day you left. He is still driving the worst parts of town.
