This is so China: a 168 AD statue of Li Bing, the engineer behind the construction of the project, in a temple dedicated to him. The only country in the world that literally deifies engineers 😊

Way ahead of its time…visited this place in April this year. If you travel from Chengdu to Xi’An via high speed train, almost 30-40% of the journey is through tunnels in mountain terrain. Amazed to see the audacity of projects & quality, speed of execution.

We built schools 30/40 years ago that are falling to pieces and going to apparently cost over 500m to fix. We privatised our water and sewage 30+ years ago, rivers, lakes, seas toxic with billions of litres of raw sewage pumped into them annually.
