Whenever I feel sad about youth taunting, or abusing the security forces, I remember this video. During Op Sindoor last year, the Chandigarh administration called for Civil Defence Volunteers as the city's second line of defense for emergency and disaster response. Thousands of young men and women turned up,... purely as unpaid volunteers. The turnout far exceeded expectations. As the crowd spilled onto the roads shouting pro-Army and anti-Pakistan slogans, police had to step in, call reinforcement and open a parallel site at Tiranga Urban Park to handle the registration and orientation rush. This reflects the true spirit of our youth and their deep respect for the country and the armed forces. For every "We're GenZ, we will not tolerate this nonsense. They (soldiers) get paid from our tax money, they are not more important than us" individual, there are lakhs of youth ready to step up.show more

We want to thank God for those great men and women who devoted themselves to the service of the nation and in the line of duty, lost their lives while others were maimed or became incapacitated. Some died in the course of battle, some died as a result of injuries sustained in the course of protecting the nation, and they left their loved ones behind. As an institution, the armed forces are very crucial and central to the survival of every nation, and I must admit, like every institution in Nigeria, things have not been well. As a government, we will continue to provide the necessary tools and enabling environment for the Armed Forces to effectively discharge their constitutional responsibilities of protecting the lives and property of citizens in the State. We will continue to honor our fallen heroes who sacrificed for our nation’s security.

Today, I made the decision to renew the leadership of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. I am grateful to General Zaluzhnyi for two years of defense. I appreciate every victory we have achieved together, thanks to all the Ukrainian warriors who are heroically carrying this war on their shoulders. We candidly discussed issues in the army that require change. Urgent change. I proposed to General Zaluzhnyi that we further remain together on the Ukrainian state team. I will be grateful for his acceptance of this proposal. Starting today, a new management team will take over leadership of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. I had dozens of conversations with commanders at various levels. I spoke, in particular, with brigade generals Andriy Hnatov, Mykhailo Drapatyi, and Ihor Skybiuk, as well as colonels Pavlo Palisa and Vadym Sukharevskyi. They are all being considered for army leadership positions, and they will be led by Ukraine's most experienced commander. He has successful defensive experience, particularly in the Kyiv defense operation. He also has successful offensive experience, particularly in the Kharkiv liberation operation. I appointed Colonel-General Oleksandr Syrskyi as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This is not about surnames, and surely not about politics. This is about our army system, about the management of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and about involving the experience of this war’s combat-hardened commanders. 2024 can become successful for Ukraine only through effective changes in the basis of our defense, which is the Armed Forces of Ukraine. We are all proud of our army and we must do everything in our power to ensure that the Ukrainian army becomes a victorious army.

We have enrolled over 1000 people. They are being trained at Tagore Theatre. A large number of people had turned up. So, we have sent the rest of the people to Tiranga Park, to the second camp. The second batch of Civil Defence training will begin there shortly. With the response we have received, we hope to train and enrol 3000 civil defence volunteers today...We can keep this as a regular practice, if there is a demand by the people. We have adequate capacity, NDRF team too provides training, Red Cross provides first aid training. Besides this, physical activities' training are also being provided. Our long-term plan would be to deploy these registered civil defence volunteers and engage them in social work...The situation is peaceful right now..."

At the same time, it must be said that no country in the world was prepared for the challenges of a war of this scale. If not for civil society, the donations of Ukrainians, the work of volunteers and charitable foundations, the support provided to every unit, and the backing of our Western partners, we might no longer exist as a state. Together, united, we achieved the impossible.

27 March 2022 marked the beginning of our struggle for Pakistan’s Haqeeqi Azadi. In the last 2 years, despite facing oppression and injustice at the hands of the predatory class and status quo forces, PTI has evolved into an unstoppable force. This has been made possible by the relentless struggle and efforts of our party workers, volunteers, and the ordinary citizens of Pakistan, particularly the youth and the women of this country. Insha’Allah, our efforts will soon bear fruit, and we will establish Pakistan on the basis of our three guiding principles: rule of law, self-esteem & humanity.

After the talks in Jeddah and the American proposal for a ceasefire on the frontline, Russia stole almost another week – a week of war that only Russia wants. We will do everything to further intensify diplomacy. We will do everything to make diplomacy effective. But every day now is about defending our independence, our state, and our people. We must remember – it is the support of our army, all our defense and security forces, and our state that determines everything. I thank each and every one who does not forget that Ukraine’s defense and resilience are paramount. I am grateful to all Ukrainian soldiers, every one of our units. I thank everyone who works for our defense and for our state. I thank all Ukrainians for every fundraiser for our Ukrainian army. We must remember – as long as the occupier is on our land, and as long as air raid sirens sound, we must defend Ukraine.

They have been on the side of consistentency and for them to show up in this manner in solidarity of Shatta wale(shatta movement) is to reinforce the fact about protecting our democracy from abuse of discretion. I agree with our youth leader Salam Mustapha, you don’t treat one of the biggest exports of this country in this manner. You are investigating, he’s not yet charged nor sentenced and so if you set such unrealistic bail conditions as a way of punishing him then you are only Seeking to destroy his career and nothing else. First they came for their opponents in politics, whiles the bat up journalists and now they have moved towards our creative arts. Let’s speak up and stop this arbitrariness before it swallows us all. Prosecute the person all you want, investigate the person all you want but do not weaponise bail conditions as a way of keeping citizens in custody. That’s not rule of law, that’s abuse of law.
