You don’t buy this. God gives it to your grandma. And we’re supposed to keep it

Silverwear was like jewelry back then. It was one of the first things a burglar would go for. They were sometimes made with real silver and/or gold. The older, the less plating. You didn't realize it but this is how ya great great grandma would flex on house guest and visitors.

Could find them at furniture stores, in a catalog, have em custom made, at flea markets, antique and thrift stores, estate sales, etc. Ours just collects random shit now. we used to have it all set up and nice with the China from my wife's grandma on display.

And i can promise you, there isn't a grandma in the whole country that had to lift a finger to move one. She always new exactly who to call when it was time to move it. They were made to torture the men in grandma's life.

They got it from their grandma. She got it from the plantation owner. Lol, no one ever bought one. You forgot the sofa with the plastic on it that you could not sit on.

In New Orleans it came from Rosenberg’s or Hurwitz Mintz, or Frankie and Johnny’s Furniture store (iconic commercial) lol. We stayed in there. The top sometimes was detachable but you used to buy your furniture assembled and a delivery team secured it 😩

The memories.... of the OFF LIMITS China Cabinet! I cant just hear the warnings and threats now at age 45

The "China Cabinet" is a deep part of Black American history. Given that we were systematically locked out of accumulating wealth...oftentimes the China Cabinet (anf the contents therein) was one of the very few items of value that Black Americans could obtain and pass down generationally. The wise thing to do today if you've inherited Grandma's old China Cabinet is to have it and the contents appraised and insured if they hold value worth thousands of dollars 🙏🏾😌
