Silverwear was like jewelry back then. It was one of the first things a burglar would go for. They were sometimes made with real silver and/or gold. The older, the less plating. You didn't realize it but this is how ya great great grandma would flex on house guest and visitors.

Could find them at furniture stores, in a catalog, have em custom made, at flea markets, antique and thrift stores, estate sales, etc. Ours just collects random shit now. we used to have it all set up and nice with the China from my wife's grandma on display.

In New Orleans it came from Rosenberg’s or Hurwitz Mintz, or Frankie and Johnny’s Furniture store (iconic commercial) lol. We stayed in there. The top sometimes was detachable but you used to buy your furniture assembled and a delivery team secured it 😩
