In California the majority of the water tenders on these fires are hired vendors, under an Emergency Equipment Rental Agreement (EERA). Some counties staff their own tenders, OES has a handful available, assigned to local government departments for surge requirements. Vendors are the backbone for water supply during extended attack major fires. 🇺🇸

Water is one of the most vital tools in battling flames and safeguarding communities. But fire departments do not rely on any single water source during large incidents since access, volume and damage to infrastructure sometimes hamper what most would consider the go-to source. Versatility and adaptability are key. Let’s break down the water resources that support firefighting efforts: 🚒Fire Engines: On average, fire engines carry 500 gallons of water for immediate response. Some carry 750-1000 gallons! They can also connect to hydrants when available, extending their water supply during incidents. 🚚Water Tenders: These tanker trucks can carry significant amounts of water—some up to 4,000 gallons. Prepositioned during dangerous weather, water tenders provide mobile water sources, offering flexibility in dynamic situations. 🚁Helicopters & Airtankers: Helicopters can draw water from lakes, ponds, or even swimming pools, delivering targeted water drops. Airtankers, like the powerful Super Scoopers, can refill from oceans and large lakes, dropping water over wide areas to slow fire spread. 🤝Teamwork is Essential: No single water source works alone. Each plays a critical role, depending on conditions and availability. Firefighters are adept at overcoming challenges with static water sources and finding ways to adapt to protect lives and property. When it comes to battling flames, every resource - on the ground or in the air - is critical to the mission. #LAfires #wildfireresponse

A devastating fire outbreak razed down a big family compound house at Meduma in the Kwabre East Municipality of the Ashanti Region of Ghana. According to reports, firefighters from the Ghana National Fire Service arrived at the scene late and with an empty tank, prompting them to tap water from a nearby community water storage. During a fire fighting operation at Techiman Market, it was discovered that, there was a fire hydrant that had been built over 50 years ago with abundant underground water to assist such a fire fighting activity. However, someone had constructed a container shop on the hydrant and tiled the whole hydrant. It had to be dug before officers could access water.

A lot of people in NYC are praising Mayor Mamdani for allowing them to go to their closest fire stations and request a fire hydrant spray cap that the firefighters will come turn on and then the kids and adults can play in the water and cool off and they don’t waste water either.

UPDATE: CA Fires Real Estate Developer states there is NO WATER Coming out of the Palisades - The Fire Hydrants have No Water “What is most concerning to me is our first responders and firefighters who are trying to battle this, there’s no water in the Palisades. There is NO WATER coming out of the fire hydrants. This is an absolute [intentional] mismanagement by the city. We’ve got a mayor out of the country… and we got a city that’s burning, and there’s no resources to put out the fires. You don’t see the fire fighters there because there’s nothing they can do…” This is a nightmare…

Life. It's also a good idea to have life jackets. Somehow, this is the water we drink.. How about splashing the remains in the flowing water like a river? By the time you dispose off a billion people, where does that leave the integrity of the fresh water body?

UPDATE: The fire is out, investigators are on scene. The fire started on the outside of a duplex, burned through the wood deck, and climbed up into the attic on one side of the structure. Then it traveled down a wood fence, burning the back side of another structure, through the yard, to a vehicle. A few minutes into the fire, firefighters heard two explosions from propane tanks which helped fuel the fire. Crews were able to contain the fire to one side of the duplex. There is limited water damage on the other side. There were no injuries. Crews rescued a lizard, but a cat is still missing. The people inside the duplex were alerted by a neighbor who saw the fire, and ran to knock on the door to get them out. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

🚱 “Uncle Vova, please give us water” — children from occupied Donbas beg Putin for the most basic necessity Children from the Russian-occupied Donbas recorded a video message to Vladimir Putin, asking for running water in their homes. 💬 “Uncle Vova, we want to run and laugh, not wait for trucks to bring us water… Please give us a miracle — water from the tap,” pleads a girl from Makiivka, where there has been no water for a month. The video was published by the organization Obereg Life, which claims it has officially sent the message to Putin. In Donetsk, stable water supply has been gone since 2022. Until recently, water was provided every other day — now local authorities are planning to reduce it to once every three days. Even when water does arrive, it’s muddy, full of sediment, and doesn’t reach the upper floors. Just a reminder: before the “Russian world” came, Donetsk hosted the UEFA Euro 2012 and even a Rihanna concert.
