Theatrical, because that's the one I saw as a kid that made me into a crazy Star Wars fan. I don't care about the improved visuals I want the actual movie that I saw in the theater all of those years ago man..

I'm good with it. Not as distracting as the scene in Star Trek: The Motion Picture when Kirk, Spock, and McCoy talk the 1st time ('Will you PLEASE...sit DOWN') and a wall became a window looking at the back of the Enterprise (looks even more distracting in the '22 cut than '01).

@DannyBrophy He isn't wrong, they did it on purpose. People went from seeing 19" or 20" standard def TV's, to seeing it on a massive theatre screen. It was ship porn for the model makers, film makers, and audience. I love seeing it every damn time.

I absolutely hate the updated versions. And I’m so glad that Harmy's Despecialized Edition exists.

The opening up of Cloud City is the only change I like in all of the special editions.

@capecoraldwells The Cloud City enhancements were the best ones, EXCEPT…George should have left in “Bring my shuttle!” because Vader was pissed (and we didn’t need the ROTJ footage either).

The theatrical movie looks more like science fiction and plays more with our imagination. The special edition looks more detailed and has new elements to look at. However changes the magical trajectory of the movie

The Empire Strikes Back special edition is probably the ONLY one that sort of benefits from the additions. The rest do not hold up at all. This somewhat does.

The special editions are the first versions I saw when they released them in 97. Those will always be the right version to me. I didn’t even get mad when they put Hayden in ROTJ. Anakin died in episode 3 and Vader was born

2019 Cloud City added visuals were great, that new Jabba Palace song and dance is hurrendous! Everything else I didn’t mind at all.

Original, since they went overboard and couldn't help themselves. George got too edit happy inserting immature CGI into a PRACTICAL effects movie with awful results.

Theatrical edition. Prefer the lighting and many of the cgi edits have not aged well and look gimmicky. "Look what we can do". This image in particular looks like one of those architect's previews with people stuck on a building concept. Greenscreens imposed on a painting.

I like the 1980 version because, nostalgia. But I like the 2019 version because it offers more visual context and atmosphere. 2019 is definitely more impressive.

Should be given both cuts of all 3 films on 4k but that's as likely as Song of the South getting a live action version made
