while Anthropic quietly removed Claude Code from the $20 Pro plan (now $100+ Max only) we just released OpenClaude v0.6.0 completely free & open-source.

Same powerful terminal-first coding agent energy, but now you control everything: → Pick any model: Claude, GPT, Gemini, DeepSeek, Ollama, or 200+ via OpenAI-compatible APIs → Run local or in the cloud → No limits, no subscriptions, no surprise price hikes Just dropped v0.6.0 with fresh improvements for faster, smoother workflows. Install in seconds: npm install -g @gitlawb/openclaude Already 23k+ stars because builders are done getting priced out. Tired of Anthropic’s ransom moves? Drop a 🔥 if you’re installing v0.6.0 right now. (Star the repo if you’re switching)

Worth noting: the screenshot shows GPT-5.4 via backend -- so OpenClaude routes through OpenAI Codex, not Claude models. That's a different product than what CC users are losing. Also the 2% test only affects new Pro signups; existing users keep CC access.

works on any models, you can also use Claude if you want, not in the mood to use Claude rn so I use Codex

Raising prices is the fastest way to fund your open-source competitors. Way to go @gitlawb

Curious to see how this impacts adoption.

bruh 🤣

I'm loving running my API key and Kimi k2.6 in Open Claude. Its bad ass!

great to hear!

is it possible to use opencode kimi 2.6 go sub with openclaude? how to connect? im sure there is a way. there is ALWAYS a way

yes its possible, you can set it up via provider command /provider . Moonshot is official provider for Kimi models

Here is how you do it. OpenClaude cannot sit in the middle as a backend for OpenCode. It is a client CLI, not an OpenAI-compatible server. The workable setup is to point each tool at the same upstream provider directly. For my case in VS CODE OpenCode Go already supports Kimi K2.6 directly, and OpenCode docs say the model ID is opencode-go/kimi-k2.6 and the Go endpoint is via OpenAI-compatible calls. OpenClaude also supports OpenAI-compatible providers, with the base URL pattern like .../v1. OpenCode credentials are stored in ~/.local/share/opencode/auth.json, and your machine already has an OpenCode Go credential there. So the wiring should be: In OpenClaude custom provider:Provider type: OpenAI-compatible API Base URL: Default model: kimi-k2.6 API key: your OpenCode Go API key

cool thank you bro

codex wired this shit up in 69 seconds. ty for openclaude

@kevincodex

good timing. Anthropic quietly moved Claude Code to $100/mo and OpenClaude drops v0.6.0 the same day. this is how open source wins — not by being better on day one, but by being there when the vendor overreaches.

Can we use it on all the models? Because if so this is really great

yes we support almost all models

@gitlawb this is very impressive work. Can you tell me any differences with the Claude Code Harness? This has the task feature and ability to spawn sub agents and monitor? any limitations?

yes we have those too please try it

Claude Code is working perfectly on my 20€ Pro plan.

that is not true, claude code is available on $20 pro plan as well.

open source to the rescue when pricing gets predatory

The best !!! Contributing 🔥

Bro OpenCode is thirsty like hell. It consumed 1 million token just analyzing my NextJs project.

we are OpenClaude bro

Yes, I meant OpenClaude

@kevincodex 👏

Justice for th peeps

Don’t fall for this. This is fake news. I still see Claude code in Pro Model

Openclaw got legal notice for using claude word, so you can see that coming too.

let them come

This is great ...love to support you guys with PF GitHub Sponsorships if you're down. @gitlawb

Sadly i didn't managed to use LM-Studio. Any hints? Provider LM Studio Model qwen3.5-27b-claude-4.6-opus-reasonig-distilled Endpoint ● local Ready — type /help to begin openclaude v0.6.0 ● Could not connect to the local OpenAI-compatible provider

please post issue in github repo

What a great confusing name

Just setup an open router API key / local models, and boom! You get to choose any model you need

Anthropic quietly removed Claude Code from the $20 Pro plan. Now $100+ Max only. Meanwhile OpenClaude v0.6.0 just dropped. Completely free and open-source. This is the enshittification cycle hitting Claude in real time. Let me explain what's happening. Claude Pro was $20/month. Included Claude Code access with reasonable limits. Developers could afford it. Students could afford it. Small teams could justify it. This was Anthropic's retail pricing strategy for building developer mindshare. Then enterprise adoption exploded (Uber blew their AI budget on Claude Code, per this week's Polymarket post). Usage costs mounted. Margins compressed. Anthropic made the classic SaaS move: quietly restrict the cheap tier, push users to the expensive one. $100/month Max tier is defensible for professional developers whose employers pay. It's prohibitive for students, hobbyists, indie developers, and smaller teams. That's the majority of people who built Claude's early mindshare. OpenClaude v0.6.0 timing is not coincidence. Community projects always accelerate when commercial providers squeeze their cheap tiers. Same pattern repeatedly: Reddit API pricing killed third-party apps, open-source alternatives emerged. Twitter API restrictions, Mastodon grew. Now Claude Code pricing pressure, OpenClaude arrives. The strategic problem for Anthropic: Claude Code competes on price and capability against Cursor, Cline, specific alternatives. Kimi K2.6 now beats Opus 4.7 on specific coding benchmarks at approximately 1/9th the cost. Losing the $20 tier means losing volume, losing mindshare, losing the next generation of developers who decide their tools during school and early career. For developers affected by this change: test alternatives. Cursor Pro remains $20/month with strong functionality. Windsurf competitive. Aider is free and excellent. OpenClaude if you want open-source specifically. Kimi K2.6 via specific providers at substantially lower cost. For Anthropic's specific strategic position: they're betting enterprise revenue matters more than developer breadth. Might be right short-term. Historically dangerous long-term. Developers who can't afford Claude today become engineers who don't recommend Claude tomorrow. The Opus 4.7 regressions this week (five documented reports) plus Claude Code pricing squeeze creates compound customer frustration. Anthropic managing through a difficult quarter. Watch whether they reverse the pricing decision or double down. Community responds with open-source. That pattern specifically accelerates as commercial providers get more aggressive.

It's very easy to use I like it

Tools keep getting cheaper. Coordination is still the hard part. Turn scattered tools into Agents that run your workflows end to end. That is where CREAO wins.

The pricing change is the real story here. Once serious coding workflows move behind a 100 dollar plan, open alternatives get a much cleaner shot at adoption because teams can standardize without budgeting per seat panic.

Was seit wann haben die das denn einfach entfernt aus dem Abo Modell? Das ist schon dreist. Danke fürs teilen

but can it handle commercial-scale workloads?

yep try it

People are just releasing their own new models once every few weeks, and I seriously don't understand which one to use.

Open-source alternatives stepping up fast here.

When I use my Codex Plus plan with OpenClaude, will I have the same kind of usage/limits per session/week?

That sounds great; I would definitely like to try this.

Classic bait and switch pricing strategy. Free alternatives always win when incumbents get greedy with tiers.
