While everyone is sharing the Chamath clip, Friedberg’s opening point is the real gem. "The Moon could end up being the next Industrial frontier for humanity. We could run continuous mining and manufacturing processes on the Moon at a fraction of the cost of what it would take to... show more

$David Friedberg: The Moon is the Next Industrial Frontier “ I think the moon could end up being the next industrial frontier for humanity. And the reason is, if you can get to the moon, it has an extraordinary abundance of material that we can mine, process, and manufacture into goods. And ultimately the cost to ship those goods back to the Earth is zero. And the reason is that on the moon, you can take advantage of the low gravity, it's about 1/6 the gravity, and the complete lack of an atmosphere, meaning that it's frictionless to move material off of the moon and very low energy to move it off of the moon. In fact, the design for moving material off of the moon is to use what's called a mass driver, which is like a train track, like a rail, like an electric rail. And you could put a package on that rail and use electricity to accelerate that package to 100 G-Force, shoot it back to the earth, or theoretically shoot it to Mars, and it will go to the exact point on the Earth you want it to go to, reenter the atmosphere, and land with a simple parachute where you want it to go. So we could run continuous mining, continuous manufacturing processes on the moon at a fraction of the cost of what it would take to do it here on Earth.”$

🚨 NASA IS LIGHTING FIRES ON THE MOON — WHAT THE HELL ARE THEY HIDING UP THERE? This is becoming increasingly strange. While NASA and private companies push forward with new lunar missions, many are asking a serious question: Why are they conducting what appear to be fire or energy experiments on the moon? Some see it as nothing more than a massive money grab. Others like David Icke believe something far deeper is going on. That the moon may not be natural at all. That it was brought here, could be hollow, and is being used as a massive sensor or control system for humanity. The moon has long been surrounded by anomalies that defy conventional explanation. The official narrative has more holes than it has answers. And many of the public faces of these missions look and feel more like actors than explorers. Why the hell is NASA lighting fires on the moon, and what are they really using it for?

Elon Musk: We should have a gigantic science station on the moon. “Along the way, we could do very cool things like have a moon base like Moon Base Alpha. Long ago there was a TV show about Moon Base Alpha. You couldn't think about the physics of that too much because apparently the moon base was drifting away from Earth. But anyway, we should have a Moon Base Alpha. The next step after the Apollo program would be to have a base on the moon. So you could have a gigantic science station doing research about the nature of the universe on the moon. It would be very cool.” From: SpaceX Update, May 29, 2025

"We legitimately don't know what China is doing on the other side of the moon. If China can cool their quantum computers with helium-3 before we can, the jig is up. This is part of the power of space… The twist there is China is there on the moon, on the far side of the moon. We don't know what they're doing because we don't have infrastructure up there to even see what's going on. But we do know they're mining helium-3."

The Moon is not the finish line. It’s the next starting point. There is a lot we can do with the resources already on the Moon. We’re going to put them to work as we build the Moon Base and prepare for Mars.

Babu Owino on between he and Sifuna, who is the boss: It is a conversation. Mr. Sun is the king of the day and shines during the day. Mr. Moon is the king of the night and shines at night. There is no competition in this thing; there is only completion. The sun does not affect the moon shining and the moon does not affect the sun shining. You need the moon and the sun to make a complete day, therefore it is not about competition, it is about completion of the job that we want to do, completion of our vision #CitizenSundayLive

Wait… now that Elon made it clear the priority is Moon over Mars… does this mean that once we have a city/base on the Moon, the launch cadence changes? Like, would the 26-month Earth-to-Mars window be less, since missions could go from the moon?

🌕 THE FUTURE OF LUNAR TRANSPORT What if moving across the Moon looked less like a rover… and more like a next-generation vehicle? This lunar transport concept could redefine how humans and robots explore the Moon. 🤖🚀 The future of mobility may be closer than it looks.

🚨NEW: Elon Musk explains his vision for future space exploration, mass drivers, and harnessing the power of the sun. "In order to understand the universe, you must explore the universe. We're only using roughly 1% of the potential energy of Earth. The only way to access the energy of the sun is to expand beyond Earth. We then need to extend to the galaxy and other galaxies. The next step beyond Earth datacenters are Earth Orbital datacenters. It will be 100-200 GW/year. We see a path to 1 TW/year. By being on the moon, building AI satellites, and having a real mass driver on the moon, we can go to 1000GW+ year. You could even work your way up to a few % of the sun's energy. It's difficult to imagine what an intelligence of that scale would think about but it will be exciting to see what happens. I want to see a mass driver on the moon go SHOOM SHOOM! One after the other, shooting satellites into space. I can't think of anything more exciting. Maybe we'll meet aliens. Maybe we'll see remnants of ancient civilizations. But the only way we're going to do that is to get out there and explore."
