A very powerful Atmospheric River storm. These aren't the beneficial type. These ones are always 100% hazardous to our area. NEW: Southern California is getting obliterated by torrential rain causing flash flood warnings. The storm even caused a ‘Seafoam storm’ where strong winds blew foam onto people standing on the shore. The storm was thanks to an ‘Atmospheric River’ which is “relatively long, narrow regions in the atmosphere that transport most of the water vapor outside of the tropics.” (NOAA) The average Atmospheric River carries the equivalent amount of water as the average flow at the mouth of the Mississippi River.

Live look at Mt. Seymour in Vancouver, BC. Major Winter Storm slamming this area. If you do not have AWD and Snow Tires right now, forget about it. You are not making it up here. Drive to Whistler instead. This is ugly. I am headed down now because I want to be able to actually get down the mountain today. #bcstorm #shareyourweather

Water is beginning to hit the bridge on Maple Island Road in Hesperia, and the dam just upstream is at risk of failing due to high water levels. A flash flood watch remains in effect for downstream areas of the White River.

From December 27th, 2021. Pretty much all of us, myself included didn't even know Frazil Ice was a thing. But temperatures were well below -10°C in Squamish, BC. This led to unusual behavior at Shannon Falls. At the bottom, the river was still actively flowing, but it was super cooled to a below freezing temperature now. So wheb it tries to flow, it keeps building an ice layer underneath it. Get it going long enough, and enough force can have that below freezing liquid water flow on top of the ice. Well once that force runs out, the water path gets cutoff, and the flow suddenly stops. And I mean suddenly stops. You are watching a portion of a river stop flowing, and immediately freeze in seconds and disappear. To this day, this is still the most popular video I ever recorded with many thinking this was fake, or the video was reversed. No! This video is 100% authentic, you are just watching something super badass that you didn't know was real. Like I said, myself is included in that! #bcstorm

#Syria: Energy minister announced that procedures have begun to reduce water discharge into the Euphrates by 100 m³/s - bringing the flow down to 1,700 m³/s. This will halt the rising water levels of the river after reaching unprecedented levels in decades. Further reductions are expected in the coming days, as incoming water flows from Turkey are set to decrease. Video shows people moving along #DeirEzzor corniche in fishing boats.

Camp Mystic devastated by torrential floods: At least 59 Dead, Including 21 Children. More than 750 children at Camp Mystic when it was inundated by a predawn flood on Friday. Camp Mystic is located in Kerr County near the Guadalupe River, which rose 26 feet in just 45 minutes. Some accounts indicate water levels increased at a rate of 1 foot every 5 mins during the peak of the storm. The National Weather Service issued a slew of warnings on Friday about flood danger ahead of the storm on Friday, but questions remain about how many people they actually reached.

I wanted to provided some hope to everyone on here as I know things are very bad in a lot of places. It is still not safe to venture out, as hurricane #Milton continues to produce strong winds.

For the first time after the Shahpur Kandi Dam was built in Punjab’s Pathankot district, work has begun to divert water from the Ravi river into the Ujh Barrage. This is the first time since Independence that Ravi river water will be used on a large scale in Jammu & Kashmir and Punjab. Earlier, all the water from the Ravi river used to flow into Pakistan via the Jammu & Kashmir and Punjab border. Farmers in Punjab, and especially in Jammu & Kashmir, had to depend on the monsoon for water. During the monsoon, the Ujh Barrage would hold water for only 2 to 3 months, after which the barrage would nearly dry up.
