India did the entire world a favour by buying Russian oil because if we had not done so, the global oil prices would have skyrocketed to $200/barrel. Russian oil was never under any sanctions and there was only a price cap, which Indian entities also followed. Let us not forget that while some ill informed commentators talked about putting restrictions on India, many other European and Asian nations bought much more crude oil, diesel, LNG, rare earth minerals worth billions of dollars from Russia. We will continue to buy energy from whoever offers the best rates to our oil companies. That’s the confidence of PM Narendra Modi Ji’s leadership. We need to ensure steady availability, affordability and sustainability of energy for our 7 crore citizens who visit a petrol pump everyday. That’s our top priority. India imports energy worth about ₹150 billion every year; and as our green energy transition moves steadily ahead under PM Sh Narendra Modi Ji’s guidance, we have now achieved 20% ethanol blending. This in effect means that we were able to save about ₹1,40,000 crore on our import bills. At the same time, even as we diversify the feedstock for ethanol production and now include crops like maize which use less water, we have been able to strengthen the agricultural economy by giving ₹40,000 crore annually to our farmers - thus also transforming our Annadatas into Urjadatas. With energy consumption of nearly 5.6 million barrels per day, India, which will soon be the world's third largest economy under the leadership of PM Modi Ji, is now the world’s third largest energy and oil consumer. International Energy Agency has estimated that in the next two decades nearly 35% of the increase in global demand will come from India. In an answer to a question in Lok Sabha, I also informed the August house of how ethanol blended fuel is a greener alternative with 65% lesser emissions. India imports energy worth about ₹150 billion every year; and as our green energy transition moves steadily ahead under PM Sh Narendra Modi Ji’s guidance, we have now achieved 20% ethanol blending. This in effect means that we were able to save about ₹1,40,000 crore on our import bills. At the same time, even as we diversify the feedstock for ethanol production and now include crops like maize which use less water, we have been able to strengthen the agricultural economy by giving ₹40,000 crore annually to our farmers - thus also transforming our Annadatas into Urjadatas. With energy consumption of nearly 5.6 million barrels per day, India, which will soon be the world's third largest economy under the leadership of PM Modi Ji, is now the world’s third largest energy and oil consumer. International Energy Agency has estimated that in the next two decades nearly 35% of the increase in global demand will come from India. In an answer to a question in Lok Sabha, I also informed the August house of how ethanol blended fuel is a greener alternative with 65% lesser emissions. Toiling for miles to bring smiles. Work in progress by GAIL (India) Limited for laying the Mumbai-Nagpur section of natural gas pipeline which is an integral part of the Mumbai-Nagpur-Jharsuguda project. This pipeline is a part of the National Gas Grid, designed to enhance energy distribution and availability across the country. Development of the National Gas Grid & a wide spread CGD network for connecting consumption centres with supply points will play a crucial role in India's transition into being a gas based economy in which the share of natural gas in our energy mix will increase from 6% to 15% by 2030 under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi Ji.
