🇹🇷 A man opened fire at a restaurant and on random bystanders in Turkey — four people were killed The tragedy took place in the southern city of Mersin. The attacker drove up to a local restaurant and began shooting at people inside and nearby directly from his car. One restaurant employee was killed on the spot. VIDEO: Downtown St. Louis was a study in contrasts this weekend. On the one hand there was the celebration and joy of Pridefest and the thousands of people who watched the parade, enjoyed musical performances, good food and fun. On the other was the late-night disorder and mayhem that continues to plague Downtown. A young woman was shot (apparently an innocent bystander) near CityGarden. There were parties in short-term rental units, and large unruly gatherings of young people blocking streets. Alcohol and guns were prominently displayed in online videos. It will take more than opening rec centers late at night to discourage young people from coming Downtown and engaging in behaviors that are detrimental to them and the neighborhood. This is quite funny. We're visiting Kamakura in Japan and we came across a large group of Chinese tourists in a place that, at first glance, looked nothing special. Turns out that this very spot is one of THE most iconic locations in Japan for Chinese people who grew up in the 1990s. Why? Because in the 1990s there was this Japanese basketball manga called "slam dunk" that every kid was watching in China, and the opening credits featured an image of this very spot: a railroad crossing on a small street leading to the beach in Kamakura. Apparently this place is so popular with Chinese tourists that they had to cordon it off at some point. Now it's obviously reopened with 3 guards assigned to handle the traffic. And now that they've heard about it, it's my daughters' turn to be hooked on the series so maybe in 20 years' time they'll be perpetuating the passion and come back to this "Slam Dunk" shrine ☺️

Ka Nye Taylor,20, has a warrant for 11 counts of felonious assault for his involvement in the Old West End Festival shooting. Toledo police say the incident stemmed from 2 groups “disrespecting each other… led into a little bit of a foot chase” before one individual assaulted another. “At that point, one person pulled out a firearm and started shooting. Someone from the rival group then pulled out his firearm and started returning fire,” 3 of the 12 people shot were involved, while the other 9 were innocent bystanders. Half of the victims arrived at the hospital with torn quadrants, but all are expected to make a recovery.

Systems created from racism cannot be reformed. That is why we keep seeing the same thing happen over and over again… with police and with ICE. An unarmed Black man, in Milwaukee, was shot in the head three times after being tased and restrained by five officers. Meanwhile, just 80 miles away, a white man was actively on top of a police officer, assaulting him… and was taken into custody without being shot. We have seen this same disparity play out over and over again. And we will continue to see this happen because… American policing is deeply rooted in systems created to control and hunt down Black populations... and ICE was created from a system rooted in racial exclusion, and the criminalization of immigrants. And we see the consequences of that history every single day. The problem is not just a few bad officers/agents, or a lack of training. The problem is not just that the wrong person was hired… These systems were built on racism. They were built to use state violence against certain people. You cannot reform a system whose foundation is rotten. You cannot train racism out of a system created by racism. You cannot reform your way out of a structure that is operating how it was designed to operate. At some point, we have to stop asking how to make these systems work better… And we have to start asking why we keep defending systems that were never designed to protect people in the first place.

Do you know why I love Barcelona? Because only in Barcelona can you stumble into all of this in one single Saturday. We started at Palau de la Música Catalana for Madama Butterfly. It's the only concert hall in Europe lit completely by daylight, through a stained glass dome built in 1908. After we walked outside, we noticed a big gathering of people, so we headed to see what was going on. A helicopter was circling the Cathedral square, dropping thousands of small poems out of the sky. Half written by Catalan poets, half by Chilean ones. I didn't know what it was at the time, but I researched it after, and it's a one-time art project called "Bombardeig de Poemes," marking 50 years since the end of the Franco dictatorship. Then, a few streets over, we found the Kiss mural. From far away, it's two people kissing. Up close, it's 4,000 individual photo tiles, each one sent in by a local back in 2014. Had no idea what it was, but apparently it's one of the most photographed spots in the city. Finally, ended the night at the Magic Fountain in Montjuïc. Built in 1929, it's free every night it runs. None of this was planned. We didn't look any of it up beforehand, we just walked into it. That's also the annoying part, you can't plan a day like this. This is why I'll never get tired of this city.

The Upper Nueces River is one of the most breathtaking hidden treasures in the entire state. Crystal-clear spring water, towering limestone bluffs, ancient cypress trees, and scenery so beautiful it almost doesn't seem real. It's the kind of place that reminds you just how incredible Texas truly is. If you've been here, you already know. If you haven't... it deserves a spot at the very top of your bucket list. A violent brawl in downtown Calgary early Saturday morning has left one man dead and at least one other person injured, according to police. Officers were called to the 700 block of 10th Avenue S.W. shortly before 2 a.m. after receiving reports of a large fight taking place in a parking lot outside a bar. Investigators believe the altercation began at Commonwealth Bar and Stage before spilling into the surrounding area. When officers arrived, they found multiple people with stab wounds. A 21-year-old man was transported to hospital but was declared dead shortly after arrival. Another individual remains in hospital in stable condition, while a third stabbing victim later showed up at hospital independently and was treated and released. Police are still determining whether that individual was directly involved in the same fight. Four people were taken into custody in connection to the incident and remain held pending further investigation.

But when Laken Riley, an American citizen, was murdered by one of those illegal aliens, you remained silent, by your own public record. These contradictions reveal the pattern: selective outrage driven by a political agenda, not human life. People see it.

I’m working from a small village in north east India this week. Place took me 4 modes of transport and 24 hours to get to. Everyone knows everyone here. To a degree that you can step out and everyone will invite you to their house for tea/black coffee because they know you’re someone’s guest. All the houses here have their own private ponds. Fishing is a thing. Growing your own veggies is a thing. People are cooking together today for some festival. Men are cutting vegetables. Women are cooking. People take turns to serve food while others eat. Saw a snake casually chilling by a pond. Nobody budged. This place is like the Australia of India. Messi is really popular here. I’ve met a kids named Messi. Someone from the village paid 10 lakh for a selfie with Messi when he came to Kolkata Rock music has its own fan base in the village children. Arctic monkeys is really popular. So is stranger things. They’re looking at me work on my laptop asking me if this is how I’ll spend all my time. The most interesting day one I’ve had at anyplace in a while.

Law and order in Karnataka has become a thing of the past since Congress took over the state. Appeasement politics is on the rise, giving radicals a free rein to pelt stones at police stations, burn them down, attack police personnel, and ransack police vehicles. Despite these incidents, the CM of Karnataka comes out blaming the police personnel. Can appeasement get any worse? Karnataka, once an hub of investors, is now a safe haven for terrorists, drug addicts, and the corrupts. While the state is in such disarray, the government seems more concerned about who writes what on Twitter and sends police to arrest those civilians. No action was taken against those who pelted stones at the police station and police personnel, but the police force was sent to arrest Harish Poonja ಹರೀಶ್ ಪೂಂಜ for being the voice of BJP karyakarthas.

This guy is a “God’s” Christian American. ✝️🇺🇸 A person was just shot and killed by ICE agents. At this point, I don’t know whether the shooting itself was legally justified or not. Some reports say the person tried to run over an ICE agent. If that’s true, then the use of deadly force may have been justified in that moment. But that’s not even my point. My point is that ICE’s aggressive enforcement tactics are creating more and more confrontations like this. The more often heavily armed agents confront people in chaotic situations, the greater the risk that someone, whether an officer or a civilian ends up dead. What I genuinely don’t understand is how someone can look at a human being’s death and say this is “God’s work.” Whatever your politics are, I don’t remember Jesus teaching people to kill and then celebrate death.
