Breakfast with mom should be fine! Mid to late afternoon, storms start to pop up with a cold front. These linger into the evening and could be severe with damaging wind gusts 60+ and quarter to golf ball size hail in the strongest storms. Not everyone sees strong storms Sunday.

TOMORROW NIGHT/MONDAY: A line of severe thunderstorms will move through Alabama late tomorrow night into the pre-dawn hours Monday with potential for widespread damaging wind and a few tornadoes. Be sure you have a reliable way of receiving warnings (never a siren!), and have a plan. Expect power outages. Snow flurries and snow showers will follow the storms Monday, a freeze is likely pretty much statewide Tuesday morning.

UPDATE: Line of storms will move through Florida on Thursday. If strong to severe storms occur, greater chance would in the morning for the Panhandle. Can't rule out an isolated tornado. It'll be a fast-moving line, so I would keep rain expectations reasonable. Most will be below 0.50 - 1". Few isolated 1" totals in stronger cells. I'll continue to provide updates throughout the day.

From the Tidal Basin looking toward the Jefferson Memorial, conditions are calm this morning, but a dangerous line of severe storms is expected to sweep through later today. School districts across the region are closing early, and major sites on the National Mall including the Washington Monument are shutting down early ahead of the threat.
