I visited the southernmost tip of India. I stood at Indira Point. I walked under trees that have stood for centuries. I dove into coral reefs among the most vibrant on earth. And I sat with the people who live there. Tribal communities, whose land is being taken away by violating the Forest Rights Act. Settlers, many of them former soldiers, placed on these islands by the Indian government, who aren’t getting fair compensation. The Modi government and BJP tells you Great Nicobar Project is about defence. It is not. Expand INS Baaz - we will back the government fully. The Navy has been asking for expansion for five years - it has been ignored. They tell you it is about a transhipment port. It is not. India is already building one in Kerala, which is on the mainland. What it actually is: 1.5 crore trees felled. Coral reefs erased from official maps. Soldiers and tribals displaced - so one businessman can build hotels and casinos on India’s most irreplaceable ecological land. Every young Indian I have spoken to understands this. Rahul Gandhi has done it AGAIN. The man with the perpetual passport in his pocket has landed in Great Nicobar, posed in front of a few trees, and produced yet another video designed for one purpose only. To sabotage a project of national, strategic and defence importance for India. This is not concern. This is a pattern. Every single project that strengthens India gets the same treatment from this man. Rafale was a scam. Vande Bharat was an insult. Chandrayaan was a stunt. The new Parliament was a coronation. CAA was anti Muslim. Sengol was theatre. Every road, every port, every airport, every defence deal that makes Bharat stronger becomes, in his vocabulary, a “scam” or a “crime.” Whose interests is he actually serving when he travels thousands of kilometres only to demoralise a project that sits at the doorstep of the Strait of Malacca, through which 30 percent of global maritime trade passes? Whose strategy is he advancing when he tries to block India’s answer to China’s String of Pearls, the very port that will end our dependence on Colombo and Singapore for transhipment? Now let us bring out the data Rahul Gandhi will never put in his videos. The total area of Great Nicobar Island is around 910 square kilometres. Out of this, 853 square kilometres, that is 92 percent of the entire island, is constitutionally protected as Tribal Reserve under the 1956 regulation. The project footprint is 166 square kilometres. That is roughly 18 percent of the island, and the tribal reserve remains overwhelmingly intact. The tribal population Rahul Gandhi is suddenly weeping for is approximately 1,200. The Shompen, around 200. The Nicobarese, around 1,000. Eight hundred square kilometres of pristine, protected forest stays exclusively reserved for them. Untouched. Guaranteed by law. And here comes the inconvenient truth that destroys his entire video. The Tribal Council itself has issued a No Objection Certificate to the Government of India. The very communities Rahul Gandhi claims to speak for have already given written consent. The Gram Sabhas have passed resolutions. Yet this man parachutes in from Delhi, ignores the actual voice of the actual tribals on the actual ground, and decides HE will speak for them in English on Twitter for his foreign audience. Why English, Rahul ji? Why is the video tailored for international consumption? Why does every Congress attack on a strategic Indian project get amplified by the exact same Western NGOs and Survival International style outfits that have a track record of stopping infrastructure in developing countries while remaining suspiciously silent about Chinese ports in Hambantota and Gwadar? The pattern is too consistent to be coincidence. When India built Sela Tunnel, he was missing. When China built villages inside Arunachal, he was silent. When Galwan happened, he hugged the Chinese narrative. When Adani built ports for India, he attacked. When Chinese ports encircle India, he says nothing. Great Nicobar is not just an island. It is India’s southernmost frontier, 145 kilometres from Indonesia, sitting on the jugular of world trade. A transhipment port here means crores of dollars stay in India instead of going to Colombo. This is exactly why someone, somewhere, wants this project killed. And Rahul Gandhi has volunteered, as always, to be the loudest voice for that someone. 1,200 tribals have said yes. 140 crore Indians want this project. The Supreme Court appointed committee has cleared it. The NGT has cleared it. The Environment Ministry has cleared it. Only one man stands in the way, video camera in hand, lecturing the nation from a forest he visited for the first time in his life. Bharat knows this script by heart now. A Hindutva-oriented transwoman from Rajasthan has recently claimed that her letters to PM Modi led to the passage of the atrocious Transgender Amendment Act. Another Hindutva-oriented transwoman from Delhi has filed a poorly-drafted petition in the Supreme Court against the Act, which will jeopardize collective community efforts to fight it via the judiciary. Both transwomen supposedly belong to the same organization. Why are they then speaking in different tongues? Our LGBTQIA+ community needs to realize that we cannot have any truck with Hindutva! This vicious ideology will lead to our collective ruin. In the recent meeting of the transgender delegation with the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, I pointed out that the new amendments relied on an RSS mindset, that wanted to box Indians into the identities we were born with. They are against our aspirations. They are averse to the India we dream of — one that is diverse and plural, and where the marginalized are protected. When we raise our voices against the Transgender Amendment Act, let's never forget which doctrine got us here in the first place!

Rahul Gandhi said that the Government of India does not allow the LoP to meet the foreign dignitaries who come because the Government of India has a sense of insecurity. Why would there be insecurity in the Government of India? I would like to tell him that today India is the fourth-largest economic power. Today, India has a stature in the world, so there is probably no insecurity...I think he's overestimating himself. Secondly, he said, whenever I visit abroad, the Indian government informs other countries not to allow the LoP to meet leaders. Judging our country this way, talking about our country this way, especially when foreign guests like Putin are about to arrive, is not appropriate to say such things about the country... It's important for everyone to know clearly: when a foreign delegate comes to India, it's the Ministry of External Affairs' responsibility to arrange meetings with government officials and other individuals. As I said, we don't expect Rahul to raise such controversies and tarnish the country's image on the same day when the President of another country is visiting. He is a LoP and should always behave responsibly."

Naturally, Rahul has met with all the delegations that expressed a desire to meet him. As I said, we don't expect Rahul to raise such controversies and tarnish the country's image on the same day when the President of another country is visiting. He is a LoP and should always behave responsibly."

I want to ask three questions first, which will make it very clear that the BJP is directing and using the Election Commission to damage India's democracy. ❓ Why is it that the CJI was removed from the selection panel of the Election Commissioner? What motivation could there be to remove the CJI? Do we not believe in the CJI? Of course, we believe in the CJI. Why is he not in that room? I sit in that room. It is a so-called democratic decision. On one side, PM Narendra Modi and HM Amit Shah. On the other side, the leader of the opposition. I have no voice in that room. What they decide is what happens. The world knows we have a PM who is more interested in headline-making announcements than the consequences that follow. A single Meta data center in Georgia reportedly consumes around 5,00,000 gallons of water every day — nearly 10% of an entire county’s supply. One facility in Iowa used almost a billion gallons in a year. Google’s operations consumed nearly 6.1 billion gallons of water in 2024 as AI cooling demands surged. Most of this water is lost through evaporation. Now imagine aggressively pushing this model into a water-stressed country like India. India already has 132 data centres and plans to add 87 more. Nearly 80% are foreign-funded. Governments are offering huge incentives — tax exemptions for years, subsidised land, electricity duty waivers, and special treatment for foreign corporations. Meanwhile, ordinary citizens are constantly told to save water and electricity. Google’s AI hub is coming up in Visakhapatnam. More such projects are being pushed across states in the name of “development,” yet hardly anyone is discussing groundwater depletion, electricity burden, environmental damage, or long-term sustainability. When communities in the U.S. began resisting these projects over water usage, electricity costs, land consumption, and noise pollution, companies started looking elsewhere. The Modi government readily embraced them — because for Modi headlines mattered more. Over $64 billion worth of data centre projects in the U.S. have reportedly been delayed or blocked due to growing public opposition over environmental and resource concerns. But in India, every announcement is celebrated without questioning who truly benefits — and who will pay the environmental price for decades to come.

The United States understands very clearly that without India’s data it cannot remain a superpower. It is only the United States combined with Indian data that can truly compete with China. Without Indian data, America cannot effectively compete with China. They understand this. But we do not. Our political class does not seem to realise it. India has one of the largest pools of data in the world, yet we are simply giving it away. We are handing it over for free. So, for me, there are three central things we must focus on. First, we must protect our data. Second, our people must live in harmony - secure, protected, and not fighting among themselves. And third, we must seriously compete with China in production and manufacturing. If we do these three things, nobody will be able to challenge us. But if we give away our data, fail to produce anything, and allow our people to fight among themselves, then we are heading for trouble. And my concern is that this is exactly the path we are currently on. Our people are being made to fight - one religion against another, one language against another, one caste against another. At the same time, we are not producing enough, and we are handing over our biggest strategic asset to the United States.
